- Just Bananas Growing is an index for an essay that was never written. It was assembled from a series of conversations about memory, places and the archives, in response to architectural and social change in the Byker ward of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England, UK during the 20th century. It presents a playful aggregation of scenes that embrace uncertainty and anxiety around the issues of location identity. The film is the result of an ongoing collaboration between a group of artists and researchers led by Peter Merrington and Tijana Stevanovic with contributions from Ko-Le Chen, Elodie Roy and Sophie Yarker. It was filmed primarily in and around Byker Wall in the Byker housing estate in the Summer of 2014.
