The life of Jesus Christ. It's highly episodic - and rather dull - in its first half-hour, but Christus grows increasingly poignant once Jesus is betrayed by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane. Location shooting in Egypt permits novice cinematographer Renato Cartoni to capture some truly stunning images, while director Guilio Antamore marshals a massive cast and a lot of camels. Sadly, Alberto Pasquali gives a mournful, one-note performance as Jesus.
