A Yankee Princess (1919) - Lost Silent Film
PamelaShort24 January 2015
Poor Patsy O'Reilly ( Bessie Love ) dreams of being descended from Irish nobility. Her father, an impoverished contractor, invents an ore crusher. The family becomes rich overnight, and they move to New York, where Patsy is enrolled in a finishing school. While her parents tour Ireland, at Patsy's behest, they purchase, a coat-of-arms from the bankrupt Lord Windbourne family. When the O'Reilly's return to America they are visited by Lady Windbourne ( Katherine Griffith ) and her son, Lord Windbourne ( J. Carlton Wetherby ) but they do not mention the coat-of-arms is their own. Patsy soon becomes engaged to Lord Windbourne, who is revealed as an impostor by the true heir to the Windbourne line, Larry Burke, ( Robert Gordon ) an English officer. Then Larry and Patsy become married, and he presents her with an authentic ancestral name and coat-of-arms.

Sadly this comedy/drama produced by Vitagraph Company of America, starring the popular actress Bessie Love, is now considered a lost silent film.
