Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is finally here. Seven years, multiple delays, lackluster announcement reactions, and ultimately an average-to-bad game means that fans are rightly annoyed at the final product. After the excellent Batman: Arkham trilogy, we all expected bigger and better things from Rocksteady. Perhaps with less executive interference and more time for patches, the game will become better, just like Cyberpunk 2077, but who knows?
Fans are understandably angry, and for good reason, at the offering given to us, however, some fans are picking apart the very thing we – as the Suicide Squad – were ’employed’ to do.
Note: Heavy spoilers for the game follow.

Memes based on sci-fi movies are popular on social media due to the films' large fan base and ongoing relevance. Even older sci-fi films like Metropolis are meme-worthy, showcasing the timeless appeal of the genre. Sci-fi movie memes cover a range of topics from romance interruptions to robot struggles, resonating with fans across generations.
Sci-fi movies have become a foundational part of cinema and popular culture in modern entertainment, and that extends to fans creating memes from their favorite projects. Memes have become an increasingly popular way of sharing simple and comical observations and comparisons with others by using pictures and stills from movies and other sources. As the internet has made sharing memes infinitely easier, and platforms have popped up where people can share them, social media is frequently flooded with new memes after every new release.

The DC Comics are on fire once again as a new Joker-like villain might be in town. This character, however, is not a villain or even an anti-hero but is lovably known as hope in the city of Metropolis. Yes, we are talking about Superman, and this time, he has gone nutsy-cuckoo!
No, he has not gone into the Arkham Asylum but is left with an evil side in his brain that may never go back. In the recent edition of Action Comics, it seems that Superman might portray a more irrational and erratic behavior since his counterpart Bizarro’s magic spell is heavy on his mind!

Superman's heat vision is used against him in the most brutal way by Bizarro, showing how magic users could take him down. Bizarro kills Superman in many horrific ways in Action Comics #1083, including snapping his neck and reversing his heat vision. Superman's biggest power becomes his greatest weakness as Bizarro uses magic to reverse his heat vision into his own brain.
Warning! Contains spoilers for Action Comics #1083!
It is very difficult to kill Superman. He's one of the most powerful characters that DC Comics has and invulnerability is one of his most basic powers. It usually takes villains a great deal of planning to even manage to hurt the Man of Steel, let alone kill him. But DC just revealed the most brutal way to kill Superman with his own heat vision.
Readers get to see many brutal deaths of Superman in Action Comics #1083 by Jason Aaron and John Timms.

Every time a presumed-lost silent film is rediscovered, it’s cause for celebration. When elements were found to restore complete versions of “The Passion of Joan of Arc” and “Metropolis,” the resulting restoration premiere was a major cinematic event. For his part, the silent film historian Kevin Brownlow told me he thinks a treasure trove of lost silents is just awaiting rediscovery in the archives of the Cinemateca de Cuba.
One major new find occurred right in the United States, however. Filmmaker Gary Huggins was hoping to buy a celluloid reel for a cartoon as part of the auction of films an Omaha-based distributor had held, after the distributor folded. He had to purchase a number of other films as well in order to get the one he wanted, and among those other titles? A presumed-lost 1923 movie with silent film megastar Clara Bow called “The Pill Pounder.”

Old black and white sci-fi movies shaped the genre as we know it today, paving the way for modern blockbusters. The legacy of iconic black and white movies like Metropolis and Godzilla can be seen in many of sci-fi's most revered classics. Some old sci-fi movies are just as entertaining today as they were almost 100 years ago.
Old black and white movies are usually seen as outdated these days, but many of them helped shape the future of sci-fi. The genre simply wouldn't be where it is today without the legacy of sci-fi movies from before color film became widespread. Some of the first movies ever ventured into sci-fi, showing that the history of film and the history of sci-fi are inextricably linked. From Metropolis to Avengers: Age of Ultron, robots are such a staple of movie-going that it's easy to forget they haven't always been around. The idea of automated machines doing work for us has existed for as long as civilization, but it wasn't until 1920 that Czech playwright Karel Čapek coined the word "robot" to describe a humanoid machine in a play called R.U.R.
Robots have been part of science fiction since even before the word was coined, but as powerful as literary explorations of the technology can be, there's nothing like seeing it on-screen. Maybe it's because, through the power of visual effects and production design, movies can give even the most futuristic robot an existence viewers can actually see. Or maybe it's that watching real people react to robots allows audiences to explore the relationship between humanity and technology by watching actual human bodies and faces.

Alien invaders are one of the most common stories told in the science fiction genre. Sci-fi movies have played on this theme from the beginning with terrifying tales of alien invaders and UFO attacks. Much of the sci-fi output of the 1950s was mainly focused on alien invaders as an analogy for the "Red Scare" and the fear of communism "invading."
Even in a post-Cold War world, invaders from outer space make great movie villains because people still have a fear of the unknown. Despite the overwhelming improbability of an alien race reaching Earth to conquer or destroy it, it is an entirely plausible apocalypse for audiences. Some of the greatest sci-fi movies involve extraterrestrial visitors, and among them are the elite film alien invaders.

Chances are, when you hear the word superhero, the first name that pops into your head is Superman. Easily the face of DC Comics (sorry Batman), the story of Metropolis's red-capped protector from the planet Krypton is universally known by fans both hardcore and casual, and a big reason for his popularity can easily be attributed to his history in cinema. Starting all the way back with Richard Donner's Superman (1978). The iconic interpretation of the character may be a bit dated and corny, but its lighthearted attitude that was accentuated by the infectiously charming Christopher Reeve, has made it stand the test of time as a true classic, even spawning a total of three sequels and a Supergirl (1984) spin-off.

The studio behind the John Wick franchise, Thunder Road Films, is shooting for the stars as they have acquired the rights to Ray Bradbury’s short story “Frost and Fire.”
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the film adaptation was written by Doug Simon and will be directed by Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper. The film follows “the intrepid young pilot of a space mining mission who finds himself scrambling to survive after crash-landing on a mysterious planet where life moves at a frighteningly accelerated pace,” which differs from the original short story. This also marks the first live-action adaptation for "Frost and Fire," which was previously adapted as a graphic novel in 1985.

It was the starting Gunn in Metropolis.
The cornerstone of Warner Bros. Discovery’s rebooted series based on its DC Comics intellectual property has officially begun principal photography. The movie previously known as “Superman: Legacy” is expected in theaters July 11, 2025, but its writer-director James Gunn, who with producer Peter Safran co-heads DC Studios, announced via social media that he’s sticking with just “Superman.”
“When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film ‘Superman: Legacy.’ By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was Superman. Making our way to you July 2025,” he wrote.
He also shared an image, a close-up of Kal-El, the Last Son of Krypton’s chest—the familiar Superman logo with a little bit of snow on it. This suggests that he is busting out of his icy Fortress of Solitude. If you don’t know what I am talking about,...

Some movies tell a small story over a short period of time, which can be very entertaining, but a broad, sweeping tale across time and space is epic. Sci-fi is the perfect genre for grand, ambitious storytelling because the films often involve interplanetary wars, as well as the creation of planets and even galaxies beyond what's known.
Sci-fi also tends to generate multi-film franchises, which, by their very nature, are epic. More impressive, however, are single films that take an audience on a sprawling journey of adventure, peril, and triumph. Ranking the best sci-fi epics could be as easy (lazy) as a list of all the Star Wars movies, but the genre has so much more to offer.

Since debuting in 2013, the DC Extended Universe has been one disaster after another for Warner Brothers. Massive critical and fan backlash, constant shake-ups in creative direction, and increasingly dwindling box office plagued the once promising franchise before it was finally put out of its misery by The Flash; though Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom might still be canon depending on who you ask.
Yet at the same time, WB has helped spearhead another cinematic universe that might be the only one besides Marvel to work out in the long run. The Monsterverse: a series of films and TV shows adapting beloved Japanese kaiju such as Godzilla, alongside original monsters and American icon King Kong for good measure.

Ever since Fritz Lang's classic science-fiction film, Metropolis, audiences have been fascinated by the ever-evolving genre of science-fiction, which led to the industry borrowing from brilliant literary minds such as Arthur C. Clarke and Philip K. Dick. Through the years, the sci-fi genre has spawned dozens of subgenres, including cyberpunk, space opera, and apocalyptic, but one of the most popular subgenres is without a doubt hard science-fiction.

In 2022, after a decade of trying to keep up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and largely failing, Warner Bros. and DC decided a drastic course correction was required. The first step was to wind down the so-called DC Extended Universe or Dceu, and bid its chief architect, Zack Snyder, adieu. But even the shuttering of this ill-fated cinematic project proved to be a bit of a mess.
At the start of 2023, Warner Bros. found itself in the unenviable position of having announced the end of the Dceu with four movies tied to that on-screen universe still to release. Meanwhile, James Gunn and producer Peter Safran took over as co-heads of the newly-dubbed DC Studios and announced the DC Universe — a totally different project to the Dceu that may or may not have a few of the old characters popping up from time to time.

The Shower Buddy is a fictional product from the movie Horrible Bosses 2 and does not exist in real life. The Shower Buddy is a special shower head that dispenses shampoo, conditioner, and body wash and mixes these products with water. Although the Shower Buddy does not exist in real life, it should be released as a limited edition ten-year anniversary product or a promotional tool for a hypothetical third movie.
The Shower Buddy may have been invented by Nick, Kurt, and Dale in Horrible Bosses 2, but was the Shower Buddy a made-up idea for the Horrible Bosses sequel, or does the product actually exist in real life? The first Horrible Bosses movie introduced three best friends, Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis), and Dale (Charlie Day), who all despise their bosses, played by Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, and Jennifer Aniston, and vow to kill them. Horrible Bosses ends with Nick,...

2021’s Dune may have missed out on the Oscar for Best Costume Design, but if there was an honor given out for red carpet wardrobe, the cast of Dune: Part Two might have it in the bag – but they couldn’t have done it without Zendaya.
We here at JoBlo.com don’t normally hit on fashion (you should see our closets!), but Zendaya’s get-up is just too incredible not to highlight. Appearing in an outfit that was part Metropolis, part Barbarella and part space cowboy in assless chaps, Zendaya’s digs felt like something that might have caused C-3Po to pose for this card…It has been identified as a piece from Mugler’s 1995 collection, but no doubt remains a futuristic look that stole pretty much all of the attention. Zendaya's striking android-esque outfit at the Dune: Part Two premiere draws comparisons to Star Wars' C-3Po and Metropolis' cyborg. Despite other big names being present, Zendaya's outfit has captured headlines and may drive more people to see the movie. Zendaya's career has skyrocketed, with upcoming projects including Challengers and a third season of Euphoria.
Zendaya has turned heads many times at movie premieres, and her arrival at the Dune: Part Two launch in London was one that was even more eye-catching than usual. Thanks to the Spider-Man star’s android-esque ensemble, Star Wars icon C-3Po began trending.
While the actress’ metallic cyborg outfit was also very reminiscent of the iconic robot form of Maria in the 1927 Fritz Lang movie Metropolis, it was Anthony Daniels’ Star Wars character many drew comparison with. Zendaya’s seemingly futuristic body armor actually has a long history steeped in cinema and pop culture.
At the root of it all is the likeness to the female robot, often called “Maria,” in Fritz Lang’s masterwork of futurism, Metropolis. Maria has inspired countless cultural references including the images of Lang’s robot used in David Bowie and Queen’s video for “Under Pressure”; a profound influence on Ralph McQuarrie’s designs for C-3Po in Star Wars; inspiring looks worn by Beyoncé, Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga; providing the concept of Janelle Monáe’s Metropolis: The Chase Suite album; and serving as a background for Whitney Houston’s music video for “Queen of the Night” as well references in the The Bodyguard.
The actual suit that Zendaya wore to the world premiere is an archival creation from fashion designer Thierry Mugler’s fall/winter 1995 couture collection. Per...

Metropolis was initially dismissed as a silly and soulless film in 1927, but it has since become a pioneering work in science fiction cinema and has influenced various forms of media. Modern filmmaker Christopher Nolan, known for movies like Interstellar and The Dark Knight series, considers Metropolis one of his favorite films, highlighting its timeless qualities and relevance to today's world. Metropolis tackles themes such as social inequality, the corruption of power, and familial relationships, making it relatable and thought-provoking for audiences regardless of the time period. Its avant-garde style and imaginative design still captivate viewers today.

Sci-fi films pave the way for new techniques and styles in cinema, influencing other genres and improving the medium as a whole. While many sci-fi films have been successfully remade for modern audiences, influential classics like Metropolis and The Sorcerers are still waiting for their turn. Movies like They Live and Demon Seed explore relevant themes of aliens and AI, making them ripe for remakes that could captivate a modern audience.
Sci-fi as a genre has led to some of the best films and stories of all time, but several films that helped define the genre happened decades ago and are yet to receive a remake for modern audiences. Sci-fi is often the first place where new techniques and experimental styles in film are employed. These films then influence other genres and help to improve the medium as a whole.

Metropolis has had multiple incarnations in Superman stories, with each version accompanying a new Superman. The depictions of Metropolis in the Christopher Reeve movies and the Dceu were not as iconic as the hero himself. The Arrowverse's Metropolis had a believable and distinctive architecture, while Smallville's Metropolis had a unique identity as a Midwest city.
A key aspect to Superman stories, the city of Metropolis has had as many different incarnations as the Man of Steel himself, with just as much variation between them. Sharing a name with the eponymous city of Fritz Lang's 1927 science fiction progenitor film, Metropolis, the location serves as one of the most important areas in the DC universe. With each version of Superman that appears in movies and on TV, a new Metropolis depiction usually comes along for the ride.

There’s a simple David vs. Goliath story at the heart of Chris Smalls’ multi-year fight to unionize Amazon workers in Staten Island during the Covid pandemic. It’s a satisfying tale of one man taking on the wealthiest company in the world, and in broad strokes it’s an accurate story — hence the way it has generally been reported in news coverage and deep dives in places like Last Week Tonight.
I’m tremendously relieved that that’s not the version Stephen Maing and Brett Story present in their new documentary, Union.
Without devaluing the heroism of Smalls’ crusade or underselling the general inhumanity of Amazon’s treatment of its lowest-level workers, Union sets out to be something closer to a warts-and-all process documentary. Using unobtrusive direct cinema techniques, the documentary takes us inside the fledgling union, capturing the frustration and elation of trying to do the right thing in an impossible historical moment.

Quentin Tarantino has always been a film lover's filmmaker. He has constructed his movies with overt and loving references to a near encyclopedic knowledge of previous directors' work. Critics decry him as a magpie, filching bits and pieces from other movies to build his own. But that overlooks the style and flourishes with which he works, and his uncanny way of combining his various references into something entirely new. He is perhaps the quintessential postmodern director, and his deliberate citations invariably add to a vision that couldn't belong to anyone else.
Sometimes, his references are reasonably open and can be spotted by any viewer with a reasonable movie literacy. Examples include Uma Thurman's yellow tracksuit in Kill Bill, Vol. 1 -- an open nod to Bruce Lee's outfit in Game of Death -- and the vaunted briefcase in Pulp Fiction, which riffs on the central MacGuffin in 1955's Kiss Me Deadly.

When we recently compiled our list of science fiction movies based on true stories, one film that didn’t make the list was Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer. After all, the technology behind the nuclear bomb can no longer be said to be undiscovered, sadly. Nonetheless, Oppenheimer remains the archetypal science fiction story—one about a mad scientist who devises a new machine that changes the world through terrible unforeseen consequences. He is an an American Prometheus, yes, but also a regular Yankee Frankenstein. More than that though, by ushering in the nuclear age, Oppenheimer may have lit the fuse on the genre of cinematic science fiction.

Each decade has its defining movies that capture the spirit of the time and reflect cultural advancements and shifts. Some films tap into universal human truths that continue to resonate regardless of the changing contexts. Timeless movies balance reflecting their era while telling stories that highlight shared experiences and maintain relevance.
Each decade has its distinctive trademarks and defining ideas, often perfectly encapsulated in the movies of that era. Although this can occasionally date a film, there are several movies that manage to remain timeless nonetheless. While there are multiple movies that help define each of these decades, over time, these time periods develop their own culture and advancements that become reflected in films. The 1960s had a spirit of hope and increasing open-mindedness, clearly evidenced in multiple films exploring new ideas. Since Fritz Lang's 1927 film, Metropolis, science-fiction films have become one of the most versatile genres and consistently turn to the literary world for inspiration from critically acclaimed authors like George Orwell and Arthur C. Clark. Out of the numerous sci-fi writers, the various works of Philip K. Dick have had an immense influence on Hollywood for decades. Born in 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, Dick started publishing science-fiction stories at the age of 23, but he didn't receive major commercial success until his book, The Man in the High Castle, was released in 1962, which also earned him a Hugo Award for Best Novel.
