This was the first film in which Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy wore what were to become their trademark derbies and customary suits.
Although Laurel and Hardy began to come together as a team with this film and first wore their familiar ill-fitting suits, Hardy's moustache was bushier and Laurel combed his hair straight back. They still had character names, and wouldn't perform under their own names for another year.
This film contains the first instance of The Boys' famous hat routine.
The version shown on TCM contains the original Pathe beginning and end releasing credits. Roach would sign a contract with MGM later in 1927 to release his films through a larger outlet with more theaters in its chain.
