A Warner Bros. Vitaphone Varieties Short Subject.
THE NAGGER AT BREAKFAST gets as good as he gives from his feisty little spouse.
Stage actors Jack Norworth and his wife Dorothy Adelphi hiss & glare at each other in this mildly distressing little comedy. While the performances are good it's still difficult to gain much pleasure from the proceedings, most especially the alarming wallop which ends the film.
Jack Norworth (1879-1959) is today best remembered as the composer of the popular songs `Take Me Out To The Ballgame' and `Shine On, Harvest Moon.'
***************
Often overlooked or neglected today, the one and two-reel short subjects were useful to the Studios as important training grounds for new or burgeoning talents, both in front & behind the camera. The dynamics for creating a successful short subject was completely different from that of a feature length film, something akin to writing a topnotch short story rather than a novel. Economical to produce in terms of both budget & schedule and capable of portraying a wide range of material, short subjects were the perfect complement to the Studios' feature films.
