- Restored in 2016 with a running time of 99 minutes. This version replicates the scene continuity of the 1930 release version, including about a minute of exit music. A small amount of footage was not found and is covered by still photographs. This is the version that played at the Museum of Modern Art and Film Forum in 2016, and was released by the Criterion Collection on Blu-ray and DVD in 2018.
- There is an Italian DVD edition of the movie, distributed by DNA Srl: "IL RE DEL JAZZ". The movie was re-edited with the contribution of the film history scholar Riccardo Cusin. This version is also available in streaming on some platforms. This DVD also contains another similar movie: " The Hollywood Revue of 1929".
- The 1933 re-release added a few brief, newly-filmed comedy sketches along with slightly revised opening credits, but removed nearly 35 minutes of footage in return. These added scenes are bonus material on the 2018 Criterion release. Prior to 2016, most prints ran about 93 minutes.
