Review Philip Lickley Dec 20, 2012
Primeval: New World takes off for its mid-season break with its best episode so far. Here's Philip's review...
This review contains spoilers.
1.8 Truth
Hallelujah! Christmas wishes have come true! As the Canadian spin-off of the UK sci-fi dinosaur-hunting portal-jumping television series reaches its seasonal break eight episodes in, we get an episode that finally references back to the plot strands of the season opener and delivers us forty-five minutes of story, action and answers – plus some questions – that goes some way towards making up for last week’s distinctly average instalment.
For fans of the original Primeval, this episode will trigger memories of several others. There are elements of the penultimate episode of series five with the T-Rex, the one in the same series where the Arc goes into lockdown, and the episode mid-way through series three where a deadly fungus wreaks its revenge in the modern world.

A new biography drawing on diaries that were locked away for years reveals the lonely star's unknown passion and a complex struggle with his sexual identity
As erudite as he was rude, Kenneth Williams is now remembered as the author of a bleak and illuminating diary and not just for his saucy anecdotes and Carry On films. But as a new authorised biography reveals, the outrageous performer and raconteur had melancholy secrets that are only now emerging.
With the publication of Born Brilliant this week, the hidden corners of Williams's life of public comedy and private pain are examined for the first time.
Biographer Christopher Stevens has uncovered the depth of the star's friendship with a young gay couple who have never spoken publicly before and who were witness to Williams's long and bitter struggle with his sexual identity.

Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer recently spoke with CinemaBlend about the sequel to the popular zombie comedy. Fleischer says a script is in the works, and anticipates Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin will return, though no deals have yet to be established.
Fleischer is currently in production on 30 Minutes or Less, a comedy in which Eisenberg stars alongside a host of hot comedic performers: Danny McBride, Fred Ward, and Aziz Ansari.
And while Fleischer praised Rhett Reese and Paul Wenick’s Zombieland 2 script as “amazing,” he’s also noted he’s got other “irons in the fire,” including a Dreamworks buddy cop movie, and Mike White’s Babes in the Woods. So, Zombieland 2 may not be rushing into production any time soon.
But a wait could prove positive, as Eisenberg and Stone both have movies coming out (The Social Network and Easy A respectively) that could raise their profiles,...
