Fischinger makes us feel circled

Warning: Spoilers
"Kreise" or "Circles" is a German short film from 1933, so this one is already almost 85 years old and to put it in perspective, this little movie is from the year the Nazis came into power in Germany. The director is Oskar Fischinger, one of the most influential filmmakers from Germany in the history of animation and experimental film. He was in his 30s at that point and it is neither from his early or late years as a movie maker. You get what you see with this one here. The film is full of circles. According to IMDb, it runs for 3 minutes, but the version i found only ran for slightly under 2 minutes. The use of the circles in here felt almost a bit hypnotic at times. But the colors and music certainly elevated the very simple material otherwise and turned it into a solid animation film for its time.
