Neil Gaiman’s much-loved novel American Gods has finally made it to the screen, with a lush adaptation from Bryan Fuller...
Having never read Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, I was assigned by my Den Of Geek overlords with a curious task: to attend the European Premiere of the incoming TV adaptation and judge it purely on the merits of what was put on screen, paying no heed (since I really couldn’t) to what it did and didn’t borrow from the much-beloved book.

It took four years, but I think Marvel’s Agents Of Shield may have finally achieved near perfection.
For four seasons now, Marvel Studios’ inaugural series has hovered around greatness but never quite achieved that milestone. Think about it, when Agents Of Shield began, it was a show that continued the story of the likable Shield agent dude that Loki killed in The Avengers, and that was pretty much it. People were expecting the ABC actioner to be an extension of the Marvel films, but it soon become apparent it would be movie-adjacent at best.

I never expected that the Lmd story would be such a phenomenal, psychological exercise. Color me pleasantly surprised. Agents of Shield has turned this android story into a psychological thriller of sorts. The story has been emotional, exciting, and fun to watch at every corner. Putting Lmd’s in the story allows actors to play multiple iterations of a character, and allows for some of the most interesting and devastating twists yet. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. powered down its seven-episode Lmd “pod” on Tuesday night with a white-knuckle hour that was equal parts zombie movie, paranoia thriller, action-drama and just plain ol’ bananas, written and directed by co-showrunner Jed Whedon.

Watch the video below. Enjoy!
To help Flan Solo control his urges, the crew seeks help from the wise and wrinkled mentor Only One Cannoli. Cannoli teaches Solo to use the Four, which literally involves Solo counting to four when his cravings are spinning out of control. Chicago – The story of a Chicago-based woman – who died in 2009 at age 83 – has become the subject of a remarkable new documentary. “Finding Vivian Maier” is a film about revelation, and was created by co-directors John Maloof and Charlie Siskel, with the support of Executive Producer and comedian Jeff Garlin.
The tale of Vivian Maier seems impossible. It began after her death with an auction of her storage locker, which contained negatives of her street photographer’s life – from the 1950s through the ‘90s. One of the directors of the film, John Maloof, stumbled onto her treasure by purchasing a box of these negatives. He then became her archivist, cataloging her photos, films, audio recordings and even material possessions, to reveal an artist of unique magnitude. “Finding Vivian Maier” is Maloof’s story, Vivian’s journey and the story of an artist’s life that easily could have been lost with her demise.

Back at the beginning of July in the daily Briefs, I started the Official snicks Top 100 Lost Hits of The 80's, spotlighting the 100 greatest minor hits of that decade. The songs you don't hear on any 80's nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty ... or top forty, and over the last five months I hope some of these forgotten gems may have rung a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provided a pop music history lesson.

I won't do a Kim list because you'll be seeing most of those songs on the Top 100 list, but here are my Don favs.: 5. "Boys of Summer," 4. "Dirty Laundry," 3. "New York Minute," 2. "Sunset Grill" 1. "Leather & Lace." First and foremost, we are sending our thoughts to...

Elton John listens to dance music in the shower. The 'Rocket Man' singer recently enjoyed a successful debut at Ibiza's 123 Rocktonic Festival and admits the genre inspires him in the morning. He said: ''I've got dance music on most mornings when I'm in the shower. ''Lately I've been listening to The 2 Bears, they've remixed 'Sad', one of the songs on the Elton Vs Pnau album. ''It's the second single so I was pleased they picked up on it. There's a fabulous track called 'Self Control' on the Scissor Sisters album, which has definitely been heard in the shower.'' Birthday shoutouts (for today and tomorrow) go to Patrick Wilson (above), who is 39, John Waite is 57, Becki Newton is 34, Audra McDonald is 42, Thomas Gibson is 50, Tom Cruise is 50, and Betty Buckley is 65. And I'd like to give a very special shoutout for Laura Branigan, who would have been 55 today. Laura is my 2nd all-time favorite singer, and I still mourn her loss eight years after her untimely death. I'm doing a top ten, but it's difficult to keep it at ten: 10. "Solitaire," 9."Shattered Glass," 8. "Self Control," 7. "Ti Amo," 6. "Didn't We Almost Win It All," 5."Close Enough," 4. "The Lucky One," 3. "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You," 2. "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye," 1. "Cry Wolf". Just another heads up that tomorrow is a holiday in the U.S., and we'll be taking the day off, except for a Meme (Ed is back!), and a Dool Liveblog. Have a safe and fun July 4th,...

There's just one problem -- film adaptations of video games suck. At best, a handful of them are merely okay. The world of video games is moving along nicely, providing gamers with new worlds, new characters and breathtaking new entertainment like it's no big deal. So why can't Hollywood figure out how to translate it all to the silver screen without it becoming a laughable disaster? We propose a new set of...
