Warning: Spoilers
When Carroll Levis started his "Discoveries" programme on radio in the 1930s he started a whole new type of programme which would be with us to this very day.Basically there is no story.Just a few story threads with hopefuls trying to get on to his programme by various devices. The most tiresome is the head waiter who gets the duck under the tureen to disappear but cannot bring it back till the end when he brings back a live bird. The trick photography on this is very basic.Keep your eyes on the tureen and you will see when they stop and restart the camera.I don't recognise the names of any of his aspirants. However the copy i viewed was only 55 minutes long.Quinlan has it at 68 minutes. So i did not see either Issy Bonn or Bertha Belmore.
