Flight Angels (1940)
Jane Wyman: Nan Hudson
Quotes
-
Commissary Clerk : [going over the just-arrived-from-Newark plane's inventory with Nan] Four thermos, trays okay, sheets... you're one pillow slip short.
Nan Hudson : Yeah, I'm savin' it for my hope chest.
[sees Mary approaching]
Nan Hudson : Hello, Mary!
[to clerk]
Nan Hudson : Count 'em again!
Commissary Clerk : How will I get them back to commissary... and you needn't be so crabby!
Nan Hudson : [with attitude] Have you ever been to Newark?
[walks away]

Nan Hudson : [annoyed] Wait'll I get my hands on that Artie, I'll teach him to stand me up for two hours on a street corner... kick that stratosphere plane right out from under him.
Thelma : How come you picked a street corner in the first place, you know Artie...
Nan Hudson : Well, I figured it'd be nice and noisy, 'cause every time he comes over to my apartment he falls asleep before I can get him out.
Rita : You must be awfully entertaining.
Nan Hudson : Look, I'd hate to see what would happen to him if he fell asleep in *your* apartment.
Rita : [gets up from sofa] What do you mean by that?
Nan Hudson : [with attitude] What do you think I mean?
Rita : I think it's a nasty crack. Why don't you take x-ray pictures of your mind and sell them at stag parties.
Nan Hudson : How do you know what they sell at stag parties, you just keep your hooks out of Artie, that's all!
Rita : *That* cluck, as if anybody'd fall for him but you.
Nan Hudson : Look, you'd fall for anything with pants on and you know it! Now don't say I didn't warn you!
[shoves Rita's shoulders]
Rita : [shoves Nan back] Don't push me!
Nan Hudson : What are you talkin' about!
[they grab each other and fall to the floor, fighting]
-
Rita : What makes you so sure that Chick didn't ask me to marry him?
Nan Hudson : O-o-oh, that's easy, he didn't want you. He didn't want to do his shopping on a *used* car lot.
