Dimension Films
Anyone who belongs to a Film Society knows that there’s a difference between the films people claim to admire and what they actually like to watch. Schedule an Ingmar Bergman film and a handful of people might show up, but if it’s a Roger Corman movie, they come running.
In public, these films have to be viewed ironically, with comments such as “they’re so bad they’re good” or “they’re good if you like that sort of thing”, which is understandable – who wants to be marked as a fan of Galaxy Of Terror?
If nothing else, the explosion of media has allowed people to watch what they want when they want, and to hell to with what anyone else thinks. You can read The Imitation Game’s synopsis on Wikipedia for when your Film Society friends mention it, even though you ignored it and...

Great news for comic books fans this past weekend as a number of huge announcements were made at this year's San Diego Comic Con. On Friday, Marvel held a surprise screening of Joss Whedon's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." pilot for those lucky enough to attend their panel. On Saturday, DC announced their plans for a Batman/Superman crossover movie, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel.
But that's not all! Lest we forget about all of the other comic book publishing companies out there, Top Cow revealed their plans to release a film based on "The Darkness" which, as they also revealed, will be featuring non-other than Sara Pezzini, a.k.a. Witchblade. This isn't the first time that Ms. Pezzini has made the crossover to film. In fact, not too long ago she was the star of her very own TV series!

In case you fine FEARnet readers couldn't tell, we've been pretty jazzed for Mortal Kombat: Legacy, Kevin Tancharoen's real-world take on the Mortal Kombat mythology. Well, after that buzz-building viral video last summer and a pretty heavy hype machine leading up to it, the first episode of the series is up, courtesy of Machinima! Check it out, as well as my impressions, after the break. The premier introduces us to Sonya Blade (Jeri Ryan) as she infiltrates a robotics smuggling operation, complete with Sektor fan service, led by Kano and the Black Dragons. Unfortunately for her, she is captured by Kano to be used as bait in a trap for her partners Jax (Michael Jai White) and Stryker (Tahmoh...

Tancharoen posted on he's Twitter account that we can expect the first episode for he's Mortal Kombat web series before the video game comes out on April 19, 2011 and also mentions Sonya blade killing some Black Dragons. Check it out below: Wikipedia: Kano is the leader of the Black Dragon criminal empire. Making his first chronological appearance in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, he freed fellow Black Dragon cohorts No Face, Tasia, Jarek and Tremor from a U.S. Special Forces security facility, under the pretense that they would reform the Black Dragon organization Mortal Kombat is set for an April 19, 2011 release in the Us, and a EU release on April 21, on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems. A PC version is also posed as a possibility.

Chicago – With the release of “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” there is a reminder of all the films in cinema history that dared to challenge something, within an existence that sometimes has trouble getting out of bed. Here are ten such films, filling in the holes of and taking on the mantle of (Blank) vs. (Blank).
Kramer vs. Kramer (1979)

This weeper did take on some pretty lofty issues in a post feminist society where gender roles – while loosening up considerably – were still pretty rigid. Meryl Streep does her usual scene stealing as Joanna Kramer, a frustrated wife and mother who shakes up circumstances by leaving her husband Ted (Dustin Hoffman) and their young boy Billy (Justin Henry).
Ted is forced to care for a child he’s barely known, and goes through a transition of his own. This Academy Award winning Best Picture...
