The costumes are the same ones featured in Three Pests in a Mess (1945) when Philip Black and his two cronies chase the Stooges around the cemetery.
This was one of several World War II-era Stooges shorts that engaged in propaganda against the then-enemy Japanese. The term "Jap", used liberally throughout this film (and during the World War II-era in general) is now considered offensive.
On an episode of the Mike Douglas Show Moe stated he was the one throwing the pies and saved the studio thousands.
