Long Live Love

This is one of the titles currently released on DVD by PTM Entertainment in a beautiful picture quality which is common to their series of Johannes Heesters movies - probably to celebrate his 100th (!) birthday, which will take place late in 2003. This film is one of the best, perhaps because of the good chemistry between Heesters and his leading lady Lizzy Waldmüller, who's fate it was to be killed soon after the film was finished during an air raid on Vienna. Definitely not an important film, but an acceptable parlour comedy with beautiful tunes by Peter Kreuder.

By 1944 Germany Hitler was really losing the war. By this time, as a part of getting the weary German audiences to help them to escaped , Goebels began to sell sex subtly in film. When the titles begin you see a full women on the back ground totally nude showing her pubic hair. Another scene shows Manfred's , played by Johanne Heesters, girl friend Fritzi, played by Hidle Seipp, Getting a rub down but naked and all, The same kind of scene Elizabeth Taylor was in in Cleopatra.Once again Will Dohm portrays a theatrical producer for a revue show ", Es Lebede Die Liebe,The show is in Spain. Manfred is late for rehearsals cause he's at a night club with friends. Maneula De Orto a well known performer in Spain, played by Lizzi Walmuller, is performing. He falls for her and ends up sneaking in the dance chorus to get a kiss. Well back to the theater he's working at He's a popular crooner. He also is women crazy. The female fans are crazy about him to.Because of this he forgets their names and faces and this is when the comedy begins. It seem that Manuael takes her show to a fantasy version of Berlin. He meets up with her not remembering her at all at the hotel thinking she just a fan he even offer her a job as a chorus girl.Being that she's in love with him she pretends against her agents wishes to be Maria the chorus girl since no one knows her in Berlin yet.Manfred fall for her not realizing who she is. when will Dohm suggest that she be used to impersonate the famous Manuela cause of her exact looks that Manfred begins to remember and tries to get harmless revenge at her. The modern swing music , at that time, in the movie, was of the old style of 38 and 39 since Hitler cut of America and America cut off Germany by 1939.The musical numbers are good. their one number that involves a back ground of fan dancers
