Netflix has unveiled the slate of TV series set to release new seasons in 2024, and some of the streamer’s biggest series are not on the list, delayed by the writers and actors strikes.
Stranger Things‘ fifth and final season, which just started production earlier this month, will not debut until 2025, making for a three-year gap between both Seasons 3 and 4 (due to the pandemic) and Seasons 4 and 5.
Given the extensive VFX work involved in the series, which was originally slated to start filming Season 5 in May, the delay is not surprising.
Ditto for the series that dethroned Stranger Things as Netflix’s most popular series, Wednesday, which is not scheduled to begin production on Season 2 until late April in a new location, Ireland, and breakout new 2023 drama One Piece, which also is yet to start filming on its second season.

As the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences continues to figure out how and when to finally hold this year’s Daytime Emmys — delayed in June due to the WGA strike — it has gone ahead and announced the nominations for this year’s 2nd Annual Children’s & Family Emmys.
There’s no date yet for this year’s Chidren’s & Family Emmys — NATAS is likely waiting for a hopeful soon resolution to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike before firming up dates. But last year, winners were announced during two ceremonies—one focused on creative and technical arts, and the other to performances and programming—at Wilshire Ebell Theatre on December 10 and 11. This year’s Cafe will likely be held around the same time — and NATAS could very well use that timeframe to simultaneously finally hold the Daytime Emmys as well.

Speedy Ortiz have announced Rabbit Rabbit, their first album in over five years, due out September 1st on bandleader Sadie Dupuis’ label Wax Nine. They’ve also shared the album’s lead single “You S02,” and announced US tour dates for 2023.
“You S02” is rife with Speedy Ortiz’s signature poppy, ’90s style guitar rock a-la Splendora. Like previously-released single “Scabs,” it gets lyrically personal in Dupuis’ experience with some of her musical heroes, this time diving deeper into the ones who could use a little more humility.
The song title pulls from the Netflix series You, referencing how Penn Badgely’s character moves from one coast to another without at all becoming a better person. “Changing cities won’t make you a hero if you still treat others badly,” Dupuis said in a press release.

Over the past few years, Netflix has introduced subscribers to an overwhelming amount of original content. But one of the most popular Netflix original movies was the 2018 romantic comedy To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Now one of the stars of that movie – and its two sequels – returns for the upcoming spinoff series Xo, Kitty. But what is star Anna Cathcart’s age as she leads the new show?

The Madonna biopic set at Universal Pictures has been scrapped, Deadline has confirmed.
The studio had no comment on the matter. But the news comes following Madonna’s announcement that she’ll be setting off on a 35-city global tour, referred to as The Celebration Tour, on July 15. She’ll launch it at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena with stops in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, Cleveland, Denver and other North American cities to follow, ahead of an 11-city European leg beginning October 14.
Madonna was to have directed the biopic on her own life and career, having penned drafts of the script with both Academy Award winner Diablo Cody (Juno) and Independent Spirit Award winner Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl on the Train). Three-time Emmy-winning Ozark star Julia Garner emerged as Madonna’s choice to play her after proving a standout in a singing and dancing bootcamp.

The most prestigious award at the Cannes Film Festival every year is the Palme d’Or, which this year went to Ruben Östlund’s “The Square,” but no Cannes is complete without the presentation of the highly coveted Palme de Whiskers, awarded annually in recognition of the Best Feline Performance. This year’s prize went to Mimi, from Agnès Varda’s “Faces Places,” RogerEbert.com reports. The documentary also won the Golden Eye prize, which recognizes a documentary from across all of the festival’s sidebars.

This rerelease reminds us how staggeringly clever and ambitious Buster Keaton’s Romeo-and-Juliet drama from 1928 actually was
Buster Keaton’s 1928 silent movie Steamboat Bill, Jr, now on rerelease, is most famous for that staggeringly clever and ambitious shot of the house front with the strategically positioned open window collapsing on top of our hero, leaving him unscathed. It is a sublime vision of innocence being protected by comically benign forces – famously pastiched by British artist and Oscar-winning film-maker Steve McQueen in his 1999 video piece Deadpan. Steamboat Bill, Jr is a Romeo-and-Juliet drama and also a gently tender story of a man coming to respect and love his son. Bill Sr (Ernest Torrence) is the captain of a tatty old pleasure boat who hasn’t seen his son since the boy was a baby. He’s hoping for a strapping lad to help out with the business. But Bill Jr (Keaton...

Death of Wolverine #3
Written by Charles Soule
Pencilled by Steve McNiven
Inked by Jay Leisen
Colors by Justin Ponsor
Published by Marvel Comics
Even if Charles Soule’s script reads like a compilation of the best solo Wolverine stories all rolled into one miniseries, Death of Wolverine #3 is another shining example of why Steve McNiven is one of the best Wolverine artists. He, inker Jay Leisen, and colorist Justin Ponsor show the serenity and violence of Wolverine’s relationship with Japan. Soule even gives him some bits of samurai poetry to say to Kitty Pryde and an old enemy to show how he is coming to grips with his death as well as wisdom he has picked up on his many travels. When McNiven uses the whole page (or two) as a canvas, he creates some of the most iconic, poster-worthy Wolverine art. If you think the cover with the...

I must have been about 12 years old when I first saw Tarzan and His Mate. I loved the Tarzan movies. Tarzan was the undisputed King of the Jungle and was the greatest, Cheetah was man’s best friend, Boy was annoying, and Jane was the Queen of the Jungle and a young male’s introduction to the allure of the female. The uncensored version, with a naked Jane silhouetted while changing clothes in a backlit tent and the spectacular underwater ballet scene would have been a revelation to me; Tarzan and Jane are frolicking in their favorite swimming hole, Tarzan in his usual loincloth and Jane naked – not naked from the waste up, or presumed naked as they hid her behind some lake flora or rocks – Jane was naked.

John Wayne, Paulette Goddard, Ray Milland, Reap the Wild Wind Debonair Ray Milland is Turner Classic Movies' Star of the Month in April 2011. This evening, beginning at 8 p.m. Et, TCM will show a couple of Milland's biggest box-office hits: Mitchell Leisen's period drama Kitty (1945), co-starring Paulette Goddard, and Cecil B. DeMille's color adventure Reap the Wild Wind (1942), with Goddard, John Wayne, Susan Hayward, and a giant octopus. Also scheduled are William A. Wellman's Beau Geste (1939), a great-looking adventure tale starring Gary Cooper as an, ahem, Englishman, and featuring Milland, Robert Preston, Broderick Crawford, a very youthful Susan Hayward, and Donald O'Connor as the boy Beau. Brian Donlevy deservedly received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his sadistic Foreign Legion sergeant. Some would derisively call Beau Geste politically incorrect; it's not. Much like Gunga Din, The Four Feathers, and The Charge of the Light Brigade, it's...

So far I've collected six separate 2010 compilation videos looking back at the this year's collection of films. To the best of my knowledge, these six videos include clips from 303 films and together they total 34:34. I have included the complete list of films on the second page if you are interested. Let me know if I'm missing any, but I think it's pretty safe to say if you liked a film in 2010 one of these following videos will feature it.
So, have a watch and leave your thoughts on which one is your favorite in the comments below and if you find another one online that I should add to the collection shoot me an email.

America Lost And Found: The Bbs Story (Criterion) Perhaps the best DVD box set released this year, this ultimate cinefile stocking stuffer offered up by Criterion, the Rolls-Royce of home video labels, features seven seminal works from the late ‘60s-early ‘70s that were brought to life by cutting edge producers Bert Schneider, Steve Blauner and director/producer Bob Rafelson, the principals of Bbs Productions. In chronological order: Head (1968) star the Monkees, the manufactured (by Rafelson, et al), American answer to the Beatles who, like it or not, did make an impact on popular culture, particularly in this utterly surreal piece of cinematic anarchy (co-written by Jack Nicholson, who has a cameo), which was largely dismissed upon its initial release, but is now regarded as a counterculture classic. If you were trapped under a rock this year (it happens) take six minutes to watch this YouTube short. Half music video, half trailer remix, “Filmography 2010″ cuts together the year’s hits, flops and everything in between to catchy music.
Even if you’re a jaded movie buff who hates year end schmaltz, the recap should pluck your heartstrings. So many great and touching moments this year, it’s enough to make you wonder how the Golden Globes managed to totally blow their nominations.
But we digress. Check out the video after the jump.
How many films do you recognize? Below is full list of the films in the order that they appear. Enjoy!

Every December these ‘best of the year’ video montages make the last 12 months of cinema seem infinitely more pleasant to sit through than they actually were. Here’s the first of many that are sure to be made before the sand in the hourglass runs out on 2010, this one from a gal going by the name of Gen I, who sent in this effort to /film.
There’s 270 movies in this montage below ranging from all the well known blockbusters, to smaller docs, foreign fare and even some Japanese anime! I can’t begin to imagine how long or how much skill it takes to put something as high-quality as this together…

Now that we're about two weeks till the end of 2010, the film industry will be looking back to figure out the best movies of the year and will pick winners during the many awards shows. Today, we have a video that captures 2010 pretty well by showing scenes from the year's 270 films, including some that have yet to hit theaters. There will likely be plenty more of these montages in the next few weeks, but the video is definitely one of the better ones that I have seen. Check out the six-minute video below, in addition to a full list of all the films that were used. Questions: How many of the films listed did you actually see in full? Video: Films in Order of Appearance: 1. Iron Man 2 2. The Social Network 3. Saw 3D 4. Tron: Legacy 5. Never Let Me Go 6. Legion 7. The Book of Eli 8. Easy A 9. The Runaways 10. Farewell 11. It's getting closer and closer to the end of the year, and we've already seen a couple top 10 lists and critic choice awards announced. Since we began posting "best of the year" video montages a few years back, it seems a lot of new wannabe video editors have emerged. Maybe the software has become cheaper or more accessible, or maybe the coverage on sites like /Film and other movie blogs garnered interest in the task. Last year I received a dozen or so best of videos, most of them were not anything we would share on the site. I think we posted three in total last year, two of which were created by video editors we've featured in previous years [1]. Today I was sent the first "best of 2010" video montage of the season, from a video editor named Gen I. I'll admit that while I was expecting the worst, I came out pleasantly surprised.

As any solid movie buff knows, there's a certain number of ingredients that go into making a movie about gang life. Whether it be the mob or street gangs, a crucial component in the world of those violent killers and drug-runners is the women that love them. They're usually bad dames, dumb broads, or diabolical femme fatales that navigate the underworld just as deftly as the man (or men) they're screwing (or screwing). And because of their love for the dark side, we love them right back. I bravely delved into the underworld to return with the 10 Sexiest Gangster Girlfriends and a few images that should act as a helpful visual aid. Plus, some of the movies on this list are a few of the best gangland films ever made so it's okay if you start geeking out over the movies instead of the women.
