Down to earth ,the Rita Hayworth musical, did not come to Germany until 81. Yet This is similar in story and plot. Shot on the side of Vienna that wasn't bombed or was rebuild half way by 48 and 49. It stars a very young Kurd Jergens as the fashion Guru of his own fashion shop and does the cloths for a theater. A young and very handsome Paul Hubschmit plays a composer.Paul Kemp plays his Uncle.Elfie Meyerhofer plays an angel from heaven who comes down to earth to inspire Hubschmit in his music.She was the Deana Durbin of Germany and Austria but her film career got better as the Nazis fell.Inge Conradi plays her friend and Angel.Kurd has a affair with the directors or producer of the theaters wife. His secretary is in love with him but he doesn't.The wife of the theatrical director is promised the role. Well Elfie comes down to earth and shows up at the auditions.She sings Ave Maria. She even later goes to the office of the director and tries to get the acting job and is thrown ed out. Paul Kemp who got her wings and causes him to move above ground sometimes, gets her a singing job at the fashion gurus store introducing his recent fashion for 48 or 49.Later they put a phony radio in front of the director at his office so he could here her singing audition, Well after she sings he heard it and sees her and gets the part. Paul is hired to write the rest of the score. After a night of frustration of working on the score while he has drifted a sleep with the help of her Uncle Johann Strauss ,invisibly. Their is a good works of trick cinematography.Well the Angelic show becomes a hit. Kurd falls and marries his secretary. The director or producers wife doesn't get it. Well she's about to leave with her angel friend but when Paul comes in the dressing room and she's invisible leaving through the window as he chases her. Then the film freezes . It turns out to be a movies thats been produced and the directors and script writer are looking over it. The screen play writer makes a suggestion to change the ending . The movie reverses back and this time she doesn't leave. Added AGFA color it would of enhanced it.
