The original cartoon included a sequence where Tom blackens Jerry's face with cigar smoke (so that Jerry is now in black-face) and puts him on a plate to tap-dance to a background instrumental of "Old Folks at Home". This has been edited from most television broadcasts, and the cartoon was removed from "Tom and Jerry Spotlight Collection: Volume 3" for this reason; however, it can be found uncut on "Tom and Jerry's Cartoon Cavalcade" VHS Tape.
The animators brought New York City to life here in amazing detail, from the tenements to Park Avenue, drawing even the smallest background item in meticulous detail (from tin cans to wooden sliding door panels). This was a hallmark of animation's golden age.
One of a few shorts where Jerry, not Tom, gets the girl at the end of the episode.
