[Campbell, a Scot, gives Harvey a withering look for this facetious remark]

Detective Inspector Campbell : [D I Campbell comes across a stuffed white rabbit sticking out of one of the bags and murmurs] Harvey
[obviously thinking of James Stewart's white rabbit in the film Harvey which came out a couple of years before]
Sergeant Harvey : Sir?
[replies Sgt Harvey, thinking he is being addressed; at which D I Campbell coughs and hurriedly turns to continue his search]

Miss Shepherd : But why should she want to protect me?
Detective Inspector Campbell : Miss Shepherd - I am only a mere man. I don't pretend to understand the tortuous workings of a young woman's mind.
-
Miss Shepherd : I'm sure it was someone from the outside inspector - the staff are all very nice people.
Detective Inspector Campbell : Women often are - until they're found out.

Detective Inspector Campbell : I've a wee present for you. See that you don't hang it on the wrong peg this time.
Miss Shepherd : Thank you, Inspector, that's very sweet of you.
Detective Inspector Campbell : You know, you've got a clever head. More like a man than a woman.
