The three beneficiaries under Mrs Victoria Ainsworth's last will and testament receive strange and what appear to be useless bequests. However, fortune is hidden in each of the legacies. Marguerite Chapman who plays Phyliss is a writer who never completes assignments on time. She thinks having an inheritance will make her more attractive to a particular gentleman. Robert Horton, who plays Jack, is hoping to leave his shift work; and lastly married couple, Carolyn and Everitt Coyle, played by Joanne Davis and Donald Curtis hitch dreams of escaping their financial woes on Carolyn's inheritance.
