A Tale From Old Indochina
Ron Oliver1 October 2001
NIOK, the little forest elephant, is befriended by a young village boy. They will enjoy their delightful camaraderie, until the day a wily Chinese merchant takes the small pachyderm away...

This French short subject is a fine family film. Children should love Niok, a most charming creature. The sparse narration is a bit stiff, but does not encumber the story.

The ambiance is helped considerably by location filming at Cambodia's massive monastery complex at Angkor Wat.
