Sex & Nudity

  • Steve and Jane are making out at the start of the film - mild kissing and not over the top. They're interrupted when they see a meteor
  • No nudity seen throughout the film
  • The shot of the kiss is exactly 10 seconds and they have their lips pressed together without movement
  • Both Men and Women are modestly dressed throughout the movie

Violence & Gore

  • Several characters are eaten by the blob, including two onscreen. Many more implied deaths as the blob continues to grow and consume numerous offscreen victims.
  • Total bodycount: 5.
  • The blob slowly consumes a farmer, starting with his hand. Implied violence.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Police are depicted smoking indoors.
  • A mechanic says he's going to be going to his cabin with his son to do some hunting and get dying

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The Blob itself is frightening. It is a carnivorous, amoeba-like single celled monster from outer space that devours its victims whole, enveloping and digesting them completely. The Blob's victims are eaten alive, and express genuine terror before they are consumed.
  • Because the blob is amorphous, it is incapable of expressing any form of emotion. This adds an especially merciless quality to the way the blob murders its victims, which younger and more sensitive viewers may find disturbing.
  • Throughout the film, a growing blob eats and dissolves citizens. Most of the carnage is off camera, but it may be disturbing to young viewers.
