Goliath II (1960) Poster

(1960)

Sterling Holloway: Narrator

Quotes

  • Narrator : Goliath was very tired of being treated like a baby. He was nine years old. At least, he would be in eight months. And he could take care of himself. And if he was nothing but a pest, well, then, all right, he'd run away, that's what he'd do. At the very first chance, too.

[that night, while the other elephants are asleep, Goliath II leaves the nest and walks out on the other elephants]

Goliath II : [determinedly]  And I'm never coming back, either - never, never, never!

  • [Goliath II decides to run away from the elephant herd, but he is captured by Raja, but Goliath's mother grabs the tiger by the tail and throws him into the mouth of a crocodile]

Narrator : Well, that was the end of old Raja.

[a dazed Raja climbs out of the crocodile's mouth and runs off]

Narrator : At least, he was never seen again.

[the next day, Goliath II's mother angrily spanks Goliath for running away]

Narrator : But it wasn't the end of Goliath's troubles. No, not by any means.

[Goliath II looks up as the other elephants look scornfully at him, especially his father, Goliath I; Goliath II sobs]

Narrator : You see, according to the elephant law, deserting the herd is a major offense. And the deserter is branded a scoundrel, a rogue elephant, a traitor to that high and imperial order of pompous pachyderms. But worst of all, he had disgraced his great father.
