Sex & Nudity

  • A murdered woman lies on a floor wearing a long shirt. The scene shows her legs. There is no nudity.
  • There is very little actual sex in the movie. Just scantily clad females.
  • When Bullitt is meeting his informant at a cafe, they walk across the street and an advertisement is clearly shown with two women bare breasted. Hard to miss.
  • A man kisses his girlfriend and wakes up next to her in the morning covered with sheets. When doctors are taking care of one of a dead man, his penis is faintly visible in the background. Only his pubic hair is faintly visible from a distance.
  • In a storefront window is a picture of 2 women with 'pasties' on their breasts.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is shot twice, a lot of blood spurts out of the wounds. This scene takes place in dark lighting making the blood harder to discern but it is still there.
  • A man is shot in the leg with causing a very bloody and graphic wound.
  • A man shoots an innocent bystander. Not very much blood but still rather violent.
  • A woman is shown dead with garroting marks are shown on her neck. This is violent and disturbing although the actual act isn't portrayed onscreen.

Profanity

  • Overall, the language is very infrequent and mild except the one use of strong profanity.
  • Bullitt utters the word bullsh*t at the end in the airport.
  • Multiple uses of hell and damn but these are said quickly and casually in conversations and so are easy to miss.
  • There is One utterance of the word bullshit.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are a few surgery scenes with realistic amounts of blood. This is pretty graphic.
  • Actual onscreen violence is infrequent but it is very strong and intense especially for 1968.
  • There is a bleak and foreboding atmosphere throughout with a lot of tense scenes throughout.
  • This film can be very intense as well as violent and bloody.

  • At the end of the movie, a man is shot multiple times through the chest. Bloody exit wounds are seen.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A car chase ensues, which ends in a massive explosion and two men dying. Their corpses can be seen burning in the car although it's only shown briefly. This is intense and violent.
