Jimmy Kimmel hosted the Oscars in 2017, 2018 and now 2023, and seems to get better each time.
The Oscars’ host must balance being entertaining and keeping the show moving, while also touching on current hot topics without getting too political.
For Kimmel in 2017, he had to choose how much he was going to address recently elected Donald Trump. Fans of Kimmel said he did a good job with touching on the subject, but critics shamed him for being ‘out of touch’ and unoriginal.
In 2018 Kimmel had another challenge to address, or not: the Me Too Movement. That year fans enjoyed Kimmel’s energy, while critics were again unimpressed with his lack of admonishing predators like Harvey Weinstein.
But for 2023, Kimmel had plenty to joke about when it came to the previous year’s infamous Will Smith slap.
“Tonight, we have no time for shenanigans. This is a celebration for everyone here,” Kimmel said.

Season three of "The Mandalorian," coming to Disney+ on March 1, sees the continued adventures of the Mandalorian and baby Yoda - aka Din Djarin and Grogu. Pedro Pascal stars as the titular bounty hunter-turned-hero, whose quest to return Grogu to his people turns into a strong bond between the pair. At the end of "The Mandalorian" season two - which ended all the way back in 2020, Din and Grogu parted ways seemingly for good. During the season, Grogu is kidnapped by forces controlled by Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). Din teams up with Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), Fennec Shand (Ming Na), and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and Nite Owls to rescue Grogu and capture Gideon, which they do with the unexpected help of Jedi master Luke Skywalker (a de-aged Mark Hamill). After, Luke offers to take Grogu so he can learn to be a Jedi. Bringing Grogu to the Jedi was...

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! Nooooooo!
Show of hands: Would anyone really be upset if I ended my recap of this week’s episode of The Killing right there?
I mean, yes, we all know bad things happen to good people. And we all know TV shows — especially AMC’s dark crime drama — aren’t under any obligation to deliver us happy endings. But still, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! I do not want to accept what my eyes witnessed in that taxi cab trunk, on that coroner’s table,...

Mike and Sulley are back in a new clip from the forthcoming prequel, Monsters University...
The Christmas tree's been fed into a wood chipper, and the baubles have been smashed and swept into a box. But if you're feeling a little gloomy now the glimmer of the festive season's behind us, here's Pixar to cheer us all back up again - for 30 seconds, at least.
Monsters University, of course, is the prequel to 2001's Monsters Inc, and explores the further education of CG odd couple Mike and Sulley. The result is an Animal House-style fraternity comedy with the added appeal of colourful monsters and Pixar's typically creative edge - the TV spot below takes the form of an advert for the Monsters University itself, and even comes with an accompanying website which gives us a tour of the various courses available and so forth.

Kim Wilde, eighties rocker and TV gardener, has given a select bunch of Tube passengers a special Christmas treat, with a merry rendition of her hit 'Kids in America' as well as an impromptu 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree'.
The star singer even gave into the Christmas spirit with a pair of antlers.
Katherine Eames, who posted the video on YouTube, reported:
Kim Wilde and Ricky Wilde serenade passengers on the train home after the MagicFM Christmas Party. After a truly rubbish day, I got on the train home and couldn't get a seat, a man pulled out his guitar "Oh here we go!" I thought. Then a drunken woman starts singing. Hang on a minute, I know that voice?! It really was Kim Wilde! This totally made my day. Thank you. She is an absolute legend! Merry Christmas everyone.
Watch for yourselves and, I think you'll agree, Kim's still Rockin.

The Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center tonight became illumniated, and as per usual, the occasion couldn't pass without a little fanfare. Scotty McCreery, Mariah Carey, Victoria Justice and more brought music to thousands of people for thousands of little lights in New York, and live on television. Below are some stand-outs, for all the various reasons entertainers stand out. Mariah Carey Mariah Carey does not do long sleeves. She does fur stoles, and if not, then evening gloves with sequined short sleeves. And she goes in twice, in a pre-taped segment for her classic "All I Want For Christmas" (gorgeous) and...

When "Supernatural" star Misha Collins isn't gracing our screens as the angel Castiel or organizing philanthropic endeavors via his charity, Random Acts, you probably assume that he's sleeping or attempting to have a social life -- but you'd be mistaken.
Apparently, Collins is aspiring to be the world's busiest man, because in his current downtime, the actor is organizing the second staging of Gishwhes: the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, after Collins and his self-proclaimed minions broke a Guinness World Record for the largest scavenger hunt on record in 2011.
After the overwhelming response from participants who found their lives changed by the surreal team-building exercise last year, Collins decided to tackle two Guinness World Records this time around, aiming to raise more money for Random Acts in the process. I spoke to him about what inspired him to tackle such a herculean task, as well as...

Nora Ephron said good-bye.
Diagnosed years ago with an aggressive form of leukemia, she had to have known that her odds for a very long life had changed. She never went public with the diagnosis, but in her final book, "I Remember Nothing: And Other Reflections," she seems to have faced the thought of mortality unvarnished and boots forward.
As I reread that book yesterday, the message all but jumped off the final pages. “What I Won’t Miss” was one list. “What I Will Miss” was the other.
Her publisher, Knopf, has given permission to reprint both.
How fitting that Ephron got the perfectly polished, straight-to-the-heart-of-it, say-it-like-no-one-else-can last word.

Bad dinners like the one we went to last night
