We call it "The New Price is Right" because we have some exciting new games that you will enjoy right there at home with our studio audience, and we're going to get that first game going right now. Here's the first item up for bids on "The New Price is Right."

    Johnny Olson : It's a fur coat.

  • Bob Barker : [a contestant is playing Dice Game]  Do you have anything to say to daddy before we look at this number?

    Contestant : Nope, but I'd like to say a few things to God.

    [Announcer calls the names of the first four lucky members of the studio audience, using the phrase "Come On Down!"] 

    Various Announcers : [after the fourth names is called]  You are the first four contestants on "The Price Is Right".

    ["The Price Is Right" theme song plays] 

    Various Announcers : And now, here's the star of "The Price Is Right", Bob Barker!

    [as Door #2 opens, Bob walks onto the stage; audience cheers and applauds; Janice Pennington hands Bob his microphone, then bows to the audience] 

    Bob Barker : [to the camera]  Welcome to "The Price Is Right".

  • Bob Barker : Judith you bid $12,000 for the The Train Depot. And the actual retail price is: $11,999. You are over by $1!

    [Her Dot Matrix marque reads over as the buzzer and failure horns play] 

    Bob Barker : We got a double overbid. But however on the other hand, It's another historic moment. We never had a bidder on the Showcase Finals go over by just $1!

    Self - Announcer : Bob, that name is Marlene Miles!

    [She got up from her seat about two seats away from her spot in Contestant's Row and ran away and up the aisle] 

    Self - Announcer : Come on down! No, come on *down*!

    [She then ran across the back of the studio and then down the other aisle and finally to her spot. She's laughing, Johnny is laughing, and the rest of the crowd is laughing at it. Meanwhile Bob is standing there perplexed] 

    Self - Host : [to the camera after letting this sink in]  I really don't know, you know? You know, sometimes you go home and you say, "Well, I've seen it all." Then you come in, and it starts all over again.
