- Elvis Presley: [introducing band members to audience] "... and the guy that gives me my water and my scarves and so forth, his name is Charlie Hodge."
- Elvis Presley: I've never gotten over what they call stage fright. I go through it every show. I'm pretty concerned. I'm pretty much thinking about the show. I never get completely comfortable with it. And I don't let the people with me get comfortable with it, in that I remind them that its a new crowd out there. Its a new audience and they haven't seen us before. So, its gotta be like the first time we go on.
- Elvis Presley: The first time that I ever appeared on stage it scared me to death. I really didn't know what the yellin' was about. I didn't realize that my body was moving. It seemed a natural thing to me. So, the manager back stage, I said "What'll I do? What'll I do?" He said, "Well, whatever it is, go back and do it again."
- [laughs]
- Elvis Presley: We'll do two shows a night for five weeks. A lot of times we'll go upstairs and sing until daylight - gospel songs. We grew up with it in a time since, I can remember, like two years old. It more or less puts your mind at ease. It does mine.
- Elvis Presley: I don't like to stay back stage too long. I've got to please the crowd. I mean, I've got to excite them - in order to make them happy. I give myself to doing that show. If somebody would walk up to me and say, "Hey, your head just exploded." I wouldn't hear it.
- Elvis Presley: My Daddy had seen a lot of people play guitar and stuff who didn't work. So, he said, "You should make up your mind," he said, "about either being an electrician or playing a guitar." He said, "I never saw a guitar player that was worth a damn."
- [laughs]
- Fan: Hey, there's the King!
- Vernon Elvis Presley: Oh, it was wild, wild in the early days. Yeah. I have seen his clothes completely tore off, his shoes gone, just scratched all over, bleedin'. Just wild things, you know. Really don't mean to hurt 'em, just wanted part of his clothes or somethin'.
- Elvis Presley: [after singing some gospel songs] That's enough. That's enough. Let's take a collection and go get some coffee.
- [laughs]
- Female Fan: I can't believe I saw him. I've loved him for nine years! And I'm so happy I saw him. I still can't believe it! I couldn't believe it - I thought I was gonna faint.
- Elvis Presley: [on stage performing, after a fan gives him a pair lady's red panties] Are these your's, honey?
- Elvis Presley: [on stage] I'd like to turn the house lights up, ladies and gentlemen. Now that you've seen me, I'd like to take a look at you. Okay?
