This movie was followed by the television show "San Ku Kai". San Ku Kai was very popular in France were it was dubbed into French by the same people who dubbed the animated series Capitaine Flam ("Captain Futur"). In fact it was more popular in France than it ever was in Japan.
The TV show "Sankuokai" was very popular in Perú, in 1981. The main theme was released in a LP vinyl with the best of the pop/rock music of that year. There was also a card album.
Widely wrongly believed to be a "Star Wars" ripoff like "Battle Beyond the Stars" when in fact it was just produced around the same time. Although there are similarities to those movies, this film has more in common with it's Japanese predecessor's such as "Voyage into Space" and many other Kaiju films than it does to the 1977 epic space saga.
