Israel’s Eurovision team have struggled to create a non-political song against the background of strong international feeling over the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.
The Israeli entry for this year’s contest came under intense scrutiny when the lyrics of its original offering October Rain were analysed, and considered too political for the rules set by the determinedly apolitical Contest’s organisers.
Now performer Eden Golan has adapted the song with new lyrics and new title, Hurricane, but The Times of London reports that her team has been challenged in finding the middle way between adhering to Contest rules and keeping the Israeli public happy.
They quote one anonymous team insider saying: “We’ve tried our best to bring a neutral song. We have pressure from the [Israeli] public to write something that speaks the truth. But the world and the Ebu want us not to speak up.”

The browser-based game Infinite Craft has recently gone viral, challenging players to combine words to produce thousands upon thousands of new word-crafting elements. Some elements reference massive pop culture franchises, including one of the most popular franchises of all: Star Wars. Players can combine elements to create the Star Wars element and use it to create new elements referencing George Lucas’ series of epic sci-fi films.
In Infinite Craft, players start with four elements: Water, Fire, Wind, and Earth. With some thinking, players can combine these basic building blocks to create new and more complex elements, including a wide variety of colors, people, and places. Some word combinations are fairly easy to guess, but others, such as Star Wars, require combining several other complex elements in a long sequence.

After a number of delays, rappers Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign finally released their collaborative album “Vultures 1.” But was it worth the wait? And is it possible to separate West’s music from his controversial behavior and antisemitism?
As of this writing “Vultures” has a MetaCritic score of 49 based on just four reviews counted so far, all of which are classified as mixed — none outright negative, but none outright positive either. Scott Glaysher (HipHopDX) gives the highest rating, an ambivalent three out of five, and he concludes, “Listeners, fans, haters and hopefuls will be in the same place they were before the album dropped: confused, disappointed, but holding onto the idea that the Kanye we all fell in love with can still deliver undeniably good music that is worth defending.”

Dan Gordon, a 56-year member of the Writers Guild of America and reserve captain for the Israeli Defense Forces, published an open letter on Tuesday resigning from the union over its failure to condemn the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
“The failure of the Guild’s leadership to issue even the mildest condemnation of the worst massacre of a religious minority in the Middle East since Isis carried out similar atrocities against the Yezidis is appalling,” Gordon said in his letter. “It is corrosive to me as a writer and repugnant to every fiber of my being as a person of conscience.”
Gordon will assume “financial core” status, or “fi-core” for short. Those with fi-core status cannot vote in guild elections or receive other perks of full members, but still pay reduced dues and work under the same bargaining agreement terms as full members. Those who assume fi-core...

“America’s Got Talent” viewers were shocked on Wednesday night when dog act Adrian Stoica and Hurricane was crowned as the $1 million winner. Fun fact: they are now the third act to prevail on “AGT” that did not receive a Golden Buzzer since its inception, following Shin Lim (Season 13) and Dustin Tavella (Season 16). In Gold Derby’s post-finale poll, we asked fans to vote for who Really deserved to win Season 18, and Adrian & Hurricane came in third place with 16% of the vote. The top spot went to singer Putri Ariani at 26%, followed by synchronized dancers Murmuration at 21%.
Putri is Simon Cowell‘s Golden Buzzer singer who went viral each week with her pitch-perfect voice and out-of-the-box song choices (including those by U2 and Elton John). The 18th winner of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” has been crowned, and it’s fan-fave dog act Adrian Stoica and Hurricane. Stoica, who previously competed on “Italia’s Got Talent” and “Romania’s Got Talent,” now sums up his “AGT” victory in three words: “crazy,” “unbelievable” and “amazing.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
Stoica reveals he never thought he would even “be in the Finals,” let alone win the entire reality TV show. “America’s Got Talent” winner Adrian Stoica plans to reward his dog, Hurricane, after the dog act secured the NBC competition show’s $1 million prize. What does she love the most? Sheep.
“I will take some extra food for Hurricane and buy some sheep, because she’s a border collie and loves to herd sheep,” Stoica told TheWrap on Thursday morning following his monumental “AGT” win during Wednesday night’s Season 18 finale.
Stoica recalled the “unbelievable” moment when host Terry Crews crowned him and Hurricane. “It was insane [and] crazy, [with] a lot of emotions,” Stoica said.
Stoica and Hurricane secured a win following an impressive musical act during the two-part finale, in which the border collie assisted his owner in preparing to woo judge Sofía Vergara. While the pair initially had a cut-out of the “Modern Family” actress on stage, they invited Vergara up to the stage later in their performance.

On Wednesday night we will find out who America voted the next champion of “America’s Got Talent,” earning the chance to see their name in the big lights of Vegas. Before that happens, there are predictions and opinions to discuss about who we think Should be the winner. Eleven acts will perform one last time on Tuesday, but if you ask me, there is only one that America should send straight through to Vegas and that’s the Ramadhani Brothers.
As of this writing, the sibling danger act is not being predicted by Gold Derby as the winner and have long shot odds of 100/1. Instead, most users believe the French dance troupe Murmuration or Indonesian vocalist Putri Ariani will win. Still, I insist that the Ramadhani Brothers are the best prepared to add value to the Vegas strip with their incredible talent Below, see my personal power rankings for all...

Denzel Washington made his feature film debut 40 years ago in 1981’s “Carbon Copy” and in the decades since has played everyone from real-life public figures such as civil rights activist Malcolm X and wrongly imprisoned boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter to crooked cops like Alonzo in “Training Day” and Joe Deacon in “The Little Things” to even William Shakespeare‘s most famed villain, Macbeth, in “The Tragedy of Macbeth.”
For his prolific nature and exemplary work, Washington has received numerous awards: he snagged his first Oscar nomination for 1987’s “Cry Freedom” and won his first Oscar two years later for 1989’s “Glory.” Twelve years after that, Washington made history when “Training Day” made him the first Black actor since Sidney Poitier (“Lilies of the Field” in 1963) to win in the Best Actor category. How much longer will he have to wait to add a third trophy to his shelf?

“America’s Got Talent” began the live shows of its 18th season on August 22 with the first round of performances in the “Qualifiers.” On Tuesday night’s show, 11 acts performed for America’s vote and only two of them will advance to “The Finals” when the results are delivered by Terry Crews on Wednesday night. Before that happens, we can reveal that Your favorite act of the night was the dog act from Italy, Adrian Stoica and Hurricane, as voted on by viewers in Gold Derby’s overnight poll.
Adrian and his companion dog Hurricane performed a comedic routine where Adrian was attempting to complete yard duty tasks, but kept getting thwarted by Hurricane’s antics. “America’s Got Talent” continued season 18 on June 27 with a two-hour showcase of acts in “Auditions 5.” There are no changes to judges’ dais this summer with executive producer Simon Cowell and long-time judge Howie Mandel taking their place on the ends of the table. Heidi Klum returns as well, as does Sofia Vergara who took a break when “All-Stars” aired earlier this year. Hosting duties are entrusted to the lively Terry Crews once again.
In the audition phase of “AGT,” an act needs at least three of the four judges to give them a “yes” vote to advance to the next round. If two or more judges buzz the act, they are immediately eliminated. Each judge and Crews has one chance to hit the “golden buzzer” and send an act straight through to the live performances.

Bob Dylan released the song “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll” in 1964. The song was a ripped-from-the-headlines protest song about the death of a Black woman named Hattie Carroll following an attack from a wealthy, white bar patron, William Zantzinger. The song is well-written but includes some historical inaccuracies. According to Dylan’s biographer Clinton Heylin, he was lucky he didn’t get sued over the song.
Bob Dylan didn’t get all the facts accurate in 1 of his songs, said his biographer
Dylan wrote the song “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll” after reading a news story about Carroll’s death. Zantzinger was intoxicated and shouted at Carroll before hitting her with his cane. Carroll spoke about how much Zantzinger upset her before collapsing. She died of a brain hemorrhage several hours later.

Bob Dylan has written a number of epic songs in his career, and some have taken inspiration from real life. Dylan has written about actual historical events and figures in his music. Some of these are more historically accurate than others. Here are five of the people and events behind his music.
‘Murder Most Foul’ is Bob Dylan’s longest song
In 2020, Dylan released his 39th album, Rough and Rowdy Ways. The album’s longest song — and the longest of his career — was “Murder Most Foul.” The nearly 17-minute song is about the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
“‘Twas a dark day in Dallas, November’ 63/ A day that will live on in infamy/ President Kennedy was a-ridin’ high/ Good day to be livin’ and a good day to die/ Being led to the slaughter like a sacrificial lamb/ He said, ‘Wait a minute, boys, you know who I am?'...

Luke Combs has been one of the biggest country music stars of the past 10 years. Since debuting on the scene with his country radio chart-topper “Hurricane,” Combs has amassed a plethora of hits, including the top-two Hot 100 smash “Forever After All.” It’s rare for country artists to have the career Combs has had, being a force to reckon with on both singles and albums charts. However, while Combs probably doesn’t have much left to check off his bucket list, there’s still one thing that hasn’t come his way: a Grammy Award. The recording academy has been somewhat slow to get on the Combs train, although he has managed to get six nominations, including Best New Artist at the 2019 ceremony. It’s clear that, with such success, Combs will likely win a Grammy someday. And that day could come in 2024.

This year’s Stagecoach Festival was a love letter to country music’s past and a nod to its wide-open future. While the festival — the genre’s largest, most rollicking reunion that takes place in California’s low desert the week after Coachella — was sparse on guest appearances (no Axl Rose, this time), the level of showmanship and raw talent was high.

“The Voice” Knockouts (Week 1) aired Monday, April 17 on NBC, with 12 artists competing to earn a spot in the live playoffs. In the early 1960s, Bob Dylan released a number of protest songs that kick-started his career. By the mid-60s, he had moved away from protest music, even claiming that he had never had any interest in the genre. It’s difficult to separate Dylan from protest songs like “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Masters of War,” but he has kept his distance from protest music for the vast majority of his career.
Bob Dylan | Val Wilmer/Redferns Bob Dylan started his career singing protest songs
Dylan has released a number of immediately recognizable protest songs, but he released most of them at the beginning of his career. His 1963 album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan held many of his classics, like “Masters of War” and “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall,” were topical and scathing criticisms.
Dylan’s music even brought him to the March on Washington in 1963, which he said was an incredibly moving experience.

Since releasing his debut single “Hurricane” in 2015, the burly North Carolina singer Luke Combs has ascended to the very top of commercial country music. His well-crafted, down-the-center power balladry arrived at a transitional moment for the genre, when artists like Chris Stapleton and Sam Hunt were providing two (very different) models of country that helped it evolve past the beach bonfire party sounds that defined Nashville country earlier in the decade. On his new album What You See Is What You Get, Combs continues the genre’s evolution but also...
