"I have a story to tell." Gravitas Ventures has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film titled The Unseen, the latest from filmmaker Vincent Shade. It will be available to watch on VOD starting this June if anyone is interested. A law student finds himself in a twisted web of murder and deceit brought on by a dark force from his past. Directed by Vincent Shade, the film stars Rj Mitte, Christian Stolte, William Mark McCullough, Jennifer A. Goodman, Sue Cremin, Candice Rose, Kimberly Michelle Vaughn, and Rebekah Kennedy. Writer / producer Jennifer A. Goodman explains the idea behind this: "As a person on the autism spectrum who has struggled throughout my life, I am honored to be able to bring this film to a large audience, supporting people whose voices may go unheard through my work and to open up peoples’ perspectives to a whole universe of creativity.

Top Argentine sales and production company, FilmSharks Int’l, has picked up worldwide sales rights to Matias Lucchesi’s latest film “The Broken Land” (“Las Rojas”) ahead of its debut at the European Film Market (EFM).
This will be the second time for a Lucchesi film to be present in Berlin. Lucchesi snagged the best feature prize at the Berlinale Generation Kplus sidebar with his feature debut, “Natural Sciences,” in 2014.
Shot mainly in the majestic Cordillera de las Andes of Mendoza, Argentina, “The Broken Land” can be described as a thriller with Western undertones, highlighted by the soulful music of composer Hernan Segret.
Drama centers on two female paleontologists, played by Argentina’s Mercedes Moran (“La Cienaga”) and Uruguay’s Natalia Oreiro (“The Unseen”), who are at loggerheads from the moment they meet. Oreiro’s character, Constanza, has come to the protected national reserve where Moran’s equally strong-willed character,...

This article contains spoilers for American Gods season 3 episode 4.
American Gods star Yetide Badaki, known to fans of the show as love goddess Bilquis, has an upbringing as unique as any fictional character from Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel.
She lived in England for three years, has lived in American since age 12, and went to college in Canada, but Badaki’s roots are planted in the soil of the country of her birth, Nigeria. Nigeria, Africa’s largest country, serves as the centerpiece of the larger tribal community known as Yorubaland along with Benin, Ghana, and Togo. Yorubaland is home to 55 million people and was one of the largest sources of the enslaved people to the United States of America. It’s also home to spirit world entities which are now about to enter into the American Gods’ canon: The Orisha.

“The Unseen” (1981)
Directed By: Danny Steinmann
Written By: Danny Steinmann & Michael L. Grace
Starring: Sydney Lassick (Ernest Keller), Barbara Bach (Jennifer Fast), Stephen Furst (Junior Keller “The Unseen”), Karen Lamm (Karen Fast) Lelia Goldoni (Virginia Keller), Douglas Barr (Tony Ross), Lois Young (Vicki Thompson), Maida Severn (Solvang Lady)
“The Unseen” gave me “Psycho” vibes because of the moodiness of the film. It also has backwoods overtones with this messed up family as well. I came across this movie randomly and liked it much better than I thought. This is seemingly an unknown early 80s horror film that deserves some lime light as it is quite sad and disturbing to watch at times.
The story involves three female reporters who are offered cheap room and board by shady museum owner Ernest Keller (Sydney Lassick) since all the local motels are full. This house isn’t...

With so many cult titles from the Eighties and Nineties making their way to Blu-ray of late, it shouldn’t be too surprising to see a few more obscure titles also getting a digital upgrade. For example, the 1980 fright flick The Unseen. Any of you seen it?
Can’t say I’ve ever seen The Unseen. Good thing Scorpion Releasing will be putting it out on Blu-ray August 13th so I can find out what I’ve been missing.
Synopsis:
Freelance reporter Jennifer and her two friends, Karen and Vicki, accept an invitation for cheap room and board in a large farmhouse offered by a friendly, but shady museum owner named Ernest Keller since all the motels in and around town are booked for a holiday parade fair Jennifer is covering. But unknown to the women, some unseen "thing" has been living in the basement of the house for over...

A genuine mystery and all-around obsession arose in 1986 during the “discovery phase” of my relationship with horror in the mid-1980s. It would last until the early summer of 2008.
It was something I could not share with my friends or my family, and in those pre-internet days, information (such as the type I needed) was in short supply, and there was little hope that I would ever find the answers I was so desperately looking for.
The question at hand…
Who was Danny Steinmann?
He was the director of my personal favorite of the Friday the 13th films…the often-derided and misunderstood Part V: A New Beginning, released in 1985. He also had the action/exploitation flick Savage Streets to his name from 1984. But that was it, as far as I knew at the time. For months on end, I scanned the pages of Fangoria for word on Mr. Steinmann’s next film,...

Director Danny Steinmann passed away yesterday; details of his death are still unknown. While the director is probably best (or worst) remembered for his addition to the Friday the 13th franchise, Part V: A New Beginning, he was also behind The Unseen, starring Bond girl Barbara Bach, and the Linda Blair exploitation film, Savage Streets.
Steinmann's filmmaking was a tribute to extremes: gore, kills and sex. Especially sex. He will be remembered for his crazy, chaotic movies and additions to the genre. Watch the trailer for Savage Streets where uncoordinated cheerleaders and bad high school girls meet '80s street punks in a "frenzy of savage violence."

Our brothers in blood have posted that Danny Steinmann, director of Savage Streets, Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning and The Unseen, has passed on. Reports on The Latarnia Forums popped up a few days ago and I had yet to see a confirmation. This is a very sad day for me as he was a director that I don’t think got the respect deserved to him. Cause of death is undetermined at this time.
I previously met the man at the spring show of Cinema Wasteland 2009 and honestly, he was involved in one of my favorite memories of Wasteland. My friends and many attendees of the convention huddled into a room to watch what many think is the worst entry in the Friday the 13th series. I never felt this way towards the film but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a lot of fun with itself either.

One of the saddest stories I've ever written here on Dread Central. Danny Steinmann didn't have the longest career, nor was his work appreciated by mainstream critics. But genre fans loved his crass and darkly humorous voice, and if you're anything like me, you hoped he'd revisit that territory one day. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen now.
We've received word that Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning director Danny Steinmann has passed away. Details are non-existent at this point, but we're inclined to believe Melanie Kinnaman, who posted the news to her Facebook page less than an hour ago.
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love that particular installment in the Friday the 13th saga, but Steinmann was also responsible for one of the greatest "urban decay" exploitation thrillers of the 1980s, Savage Streets. A movie which finds Linda Blair donning a skin-tight catsuit and...

Javits Convention Center (11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets) in New York City. Bandmates Sleazy P. Martini, Slave, Jizmak Da Gusha and Oderus Urungus will be on hand all three days (at their “human skin” booth), and host a panel on Sunday in their human guises (Don Drakulich, Matt Maguire, Brad Roberts and Dave Brockie).
In another convention update, some new Friday The 13th veterans have joined the roster, namely first Jason Ari Lehman, Part 2’s Warrington Gillette and Part V: A New Beginning director Danny Steinmann, who also helmed The Unseen (under a pseudonym) and Savage Streets. Other exciting guests/programs set for Fango’s Big Apple blowout (more to come!) include:
• Guillermo del Toro: acclaimed director of Hellboy movies, Pan’S Labyrinth,...

While MGM’s recent Pumpkinhead DVD celebrates one of Stan Winston’s greatest triumphs outside of his usual role of FX creator, this new disc reveals a chapter in his filmmaking history that has gone, if not unseen, than largely unacknowledged. One reason for that is the fact that while Winston shares a story billing on the actual movie with fellow makeup master Tom Burman and director Peter Foleg, the writing credits in The Unseen’s ad and press material, and thus almost all of the film’s reviews, and even the billing block on the DVD case cite Foleg and three different co-scribes (among them Texas Chainsaw Massacre veteran Kim Henkel). Add the fact that “Foleg” himself is actually a pseudonym for Danny Steinmann, who would go on to direct the fifth Friday The 13th, and there’s the clear suggestion of a creative history as tortured as any of the onscreen victims,...

A boatload of movies hit on a very few DVDs this Tuesday, August 19th, 2008. See what I mean below!
6 Films to Keep You Awake (2008)
Directed by Various
As the title implies, in this three-disc set are six brand-new short films from some of Spain’s most interesting directors like Paco (Romasanta, Rec) Plaza (“The Christmas Tale”), Alex (Day of the Beast) de la Iglesia (“The Baby’s Room”), and Jaume (Rec, The Nameless) Balaguero (“To Let”), just to name a few. Each film has its own “making of” documentary as well as other featurettes. Buy it here!
An American Crime (2007)
Directed by Tommy O’Haver
It’s strange to me that a movie with Ellen Page ... sorry, Academy Award nominee Ellen Page ... wouldn’t be able to get theatrical release, even if the subject of said film is about as taboo as you can get. American Crime is an adaptation...
