CBS’s hit series The Waltons told the story of a tight-knit family making do during the Great Depression. The show, which premiered in 1972 and ran until 1981, was based on creator Earl Hamner Jr.’s experiences growing up in rural Virginia in the 1930s. It made stars out of its cast, including Michael Learned, who played family matriarch Olivia Walton, and Richard Thomas, who portrayed the eldest Walton son, John-Boy. But what have Learned, Thomas, and the rest of cast been up to since the show ended? Keep reading for an update on the surviving Waltons cast members and what they doing now.

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” That Abraham Lincoln quote sums up the quiet, thoughtful dignity that actors have tried to portray on film for several generations now. And on screen, the 16th president has done everything from meeting Shirley Temple to fighting vampires. In honor of President’s Day, here are some of the actors who have played Honest Abe over the years.
Joseph Henabery – “The Birth of a Nation” (1915)
The racism in “The Birth of a Nation” aside, D.W. Griffith stages the assassination of Abraham Lincoln as a true national tragedy, and he does so in ravishing display, staging a scene everyone already knows but hadn’t yet visualized on film, using never before seen intercutting and sweeping wide shots as John Wilkes Booth dives from the balcony to provide ravishing tension and action.

The first official photo of Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's new movie has made its way online (via EW), and the resemblance is as uncanny as we knew it would be. It looks like Day-Lewis has once again dove into a role, this time giving the world an Honest Abe that looks like the honest-to-God real thing.
Day-Lewis isn't the first actor to slip into the famous chin strap beard and toss on a jaunty stovetop hat. The IMDb character page for Abraham Lincoln lists 300 appearances by the sixteenth president in movies, starting all the way back in 1911. But who wore the beard the best?
We score the cinematic Lincolns from 1 to 10 after the jump!
Daniel Day-Lewis in "Lincoln"
Day-Lewis looks more weathered/leathery than we've ever seen before and more like the prez because of it.
Score: 9
Benjamin Walker in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"

I hope you've been enjoying Wild Kratts, the new show from the Kratt brothers, who brought you Zoboomafoo and Kratts Creatures. The show really is fantastic, and is a huge hit with everyone in my family.
You probably know that I like to promote educational television as much as I can, and Wild Kratts has some special episodes coming up in support of the Earth Day efforts at PBS. While every episode might well count as helping to promote the general ideals of Earth Day, "Falcon City" and "The Blue and the Gray" have an extra focus on helping to promote the cause.
This show has proven to really be a treat already, and these two episodes look great. Not only does each episode showcase some great animals, but there is quite a bit of fascinating science thrown in, and now, Martin gets to check out life as... a tree.

The Simpsons have been airing for 22 seasons now, and I haven't even been alive for each one of them. But by now, I can confidently say I'm caught up on the majority of Simpsons episodes. From the Christmas episodes to each Treehouse of Horror, I've caught a glimpse of most of the events that have taken place in Springfield over the years. But last night, during the brand new episode, "The Blue and The Gray", for the first time we heard reference to a very blatant but at this point subtle nuance of the show: Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Have No Hair Line!

After taking a few weeks off thanks to small little events like the Super Bowl, The Simpsons returned last night with a funny, albeit unmemorable episode, "The Blue and the Gray."
The episode opened briefly with Valentine's Day, only to pave the way for Marge to notice a gray hair for the main story line and Moe to seek Dr. Kinssingher's help to improve his love life for the B story.
Marge's empowering decision to go gray, and eventually equally empowering decision to go back to blue was far from a brilliant pot device, but it was able to bring plenty of laughs like the Simpsons kids' freaking out about their hairlines.
The wingman storyline, while a little late at poking fun at the Mystery Method and various wing man dating schemes of years ago, worked because it was sprinkled in and tied in so nicely with the main story along the way.

"The Simpsons" new 'Valentine's Day' episode "The Blue and The Gray" will air Sunday, February 13 on Fox and Global in Canada:
"...After spending another Valentine's Day alone, 'Moe' attends a seminar led by 'Dr. Kissingher' in the hopes of gaining more confidence with women. Moe takes the doctor's advice and asks 'Homer' to be his wingman, but Moe becomes distraught when women are drawn to Homer as well. Meanwhile, 'Marge' discovers her first gray hairs and surprises both her family and the neighborhood by going completely gray and sporting a brand new mature 'do, but 'Bart' is not amused when the neighborhood kids tease him about Marge's look. Later, Marge confronts Homer when she learns that he is becoming increasingly popular with the young ladies, but Homer helps Marge realize that he only has eyes for her and proves that love is still in the 'Springfield' air..."
