Diego Abatantuono performed the song Eccezzziunale... veramente from the movie soundtrack at the 1982 Sanremo Music Festival, in front of international music stars like Kiss, Stray Cats, Bee Gees and Van Halen.
Inter hooligan Sandrino is played by actor Renato D'Amore (who retired from acting in the 1990s), who stated in a 2016 interview to be actually a huge fan of AS Roma, as being in real life from Rome and not from Milan (indeed, in the movie he is dubbed by Luigi Montini).
Three matches referred in the movie correspond to reality:
- Milan-Inter 0-1 (Oriali, 69'), October 25, 1981;
- Turin-Juventus 1-0, October 25, 1981;
- Cesena-Naples 1-3, October 25, 1981 (in the movie it's reported as Naples-Cesena 3-1);
- Milan-Juventus 0-1 (Virdis, 66'), October 4, 1981.
The actors playing the Inter fans Franco Alfano (Diego Abatantuono), Massimo (Massimo Boldi), Teo (Teo Teocoli) and Ugo (Ugo Conti) are actually huge AC Milan fans.
In a 2005 interview producer Claudio Bonivento stated that the movie was initially planned to be made of four episodes, starring Carlo Verdone, Massimo Troisi, Roberto Benigni and Diego Abatantuono. Following the refusal of the first three actors, screenwriter Enrico Vanzina decided to realize three episodes with the three main characters all played by Diego Abatantuono.
