Alabama fans in and around Tuscaloosa protested the making of this movie which resulted it being filmed in other locations.
Though theatrically released in 1984, this film was not released on home video until over 30 years later, despite there being many promos for release on home video in 1985.
Gene Stallings, who played for Bear Bryant at Texas A&M and went on to become head football coach at Alabama, was the technical advisor on the film.
This would be D'Urville Martin's final film for he died at the age of 45 just before the film's release.
