Stars: Scott Adkins, Waleed Elgadi, Tom Berenger, Meena Rayann, Michael Jai White, Aaron Toney | Written by Jamie Russell | Directed by James Nunn
Not only is One More Shot filmed with the illusion of being one long take like its predecessor 2021’s One Shot, it does something more important. It reunites director James Nunn and writer Jamie Russell with the previous film’s leads, Scott Adkins as Navy Seal Jake Harris and Waleed Elgadi as terrorist Amin Mansur.
Following the events of the first film, Harris is escorting Mansur back to the US where they plan to get him to reveal the whereabouts of a dirty bomb set to explode during the State of the Union Address, which the President, of course, refuses to postpone. For leverage, CIA Agent Marshall has brought Mansur’s pregnant wife Niesha to meet his plane. But they’re not the only ones there to meet the flight.

Jenny McCarthy stands by her decision to not walk offstage in protest when Rudy Giuliani appeared on “The Masked Singer” earlier this year.
Following a poor rendition of “Bad to the Bone” by George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Giuliani was unmasked as the Jack in the Box.
McCarthy’s fellow “Masked Singer” panellists Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke stormed off while the former attorney to former president Donald Trump chatted with host Nick Cannon.

McCarthy was asked what her immediate reaction to Giuliani’s appearance was on Wednesday’s “Watch What Happens Live”, insisting, “Like everyone that gets unmasked, I [was] completely shocked.
“Everyone is in their own wheelhouse in terms of how they handle their shock. The fact it was a political figure that was polarizing to half of the country [was] hard.

At the height of the pandemic (or about a million years ago in internet time), the reality TV competition Slag Wars became a minor cult hit. Hosted by adult performers and LGBTQ icons the Cock Destroyers, the show set out to find the next LGBTQ icon, or “slag,” and was marketed as one of the most sex-positive reality shows of all time for its refreshingly non-judgmental portrayal of sex work.

In their ongoing quest to bring most of Charles Band’s Empire Films from the ’80s to Blu-ray, Scream Factory is releasing another double feature containing two of the studio’s better efforts: 1984’s The Dungeonmaster (aka Ragewar) and Eliminators from 1986.
Though omnipresent in the horror genre since Dead of Night in 1945 (or even Waxworks in 1924 if you’re willing to count it), the anthology film has rarely extended into the realm of sci-fi or fantasy—Heavy Metal aside, of course. One of the rare exceptions is The Dungeonmaster, an anthology that assembles the all-star team of Empire Pictures in the mid-’80s: Charles Band, John Carl Buechler, Dave Allen, Ted Nicolaou, Pater Manoogian and several others.
Originally intended as a single story that was expanded by necessity into an anthology, The Dungeonmaster follows computer programmer Paul Bradford (Jeffrey Byron, star of Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn), inventor of a...

Two of my favourite Full Moon flicks, Dollman and Demonic Toys, have been given the Blu-ray treatment by the folks at 88 Films. Already owning the pair on DVD we take a look at these new releases to see how they compare and if the new Blus are worthy of an upgrade…

Manborg was released to DVD this week by Dark Sky Films. Directed by Steven Kostanski, the movie has characters and a style straight out of a 90′s video game, and was inspired by his love of 80′s and 90′s genre films. I had a chance to interview Steven Kostanski, who told me about the challenges of getting this project finished, the movies that served as his inspiration, and his surprise that Manborg already has a cult following:
Thank you for taking the time to talk with Daily Dead. Can you tell our readers about your work in special makeup effects? Specifically, what have you done on Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, and Resident Evil: Retribution?
Steven Kostanski: I started working in prosthetic make-up effects right after graduating high school. I worked on lots of low budget horror movies and a few tv shows before moving out to Toronto where I...

Steven Kostanski is part of the brilliant collective that makes up the Canadian production company Astron-6. Their warped indie feature, Father’s Day, was released last year to great fanfare and quickly garnered a devoted fan base for the company. Their newest subversive release, Manborg, a celebration of '80s sci-fi exploitation, was released this week on DVD. Recently, writer/director Kostanski spoke with Planet Fury about his first solo foray into feature film directing.
Planet Fury: You are part of the mad genius that is the production company Astron-6. Can you give a brief rundown on how you and the guys came together?
Steven Kostanski: We all met at the same indie horror film festival, The Winnipeg Short Film Massacre. We saw each other as competition first, but then we realized we were all into the same stuff, but everybody had different skills to bring to the table.

The warped geniuses at Astron-6, the collective responsible for the irresponsible beauty that was Father’s Day, have unleashed yet another jolt of cinematic insanity. Manborg is a goofy/smart satire of bargain basement sci-fi spectacles, CD-rom games and any number of junky toy-based Saturday morning cartoons. A direct descendent of Charles Band '80s-era exploitation fare such as Metalstorm: the Destruction of Jared Syn and Eliminators, it’s an unabashed love letter to kid-friendly "exploi-tainment."
Manborg begins, as most of these spectacles must, with a post-apocalyptic Earth. Hell has literally taken over the planet with armies of ferocious Nazi demons bent on destroying mankind. Led by the evil (natch) Count Draculon (a hilarious Adam Brooks), the armies have decimated cities throughout the world. A small...

Released during the high point in Full Moon’s relationship with Paramount Pictures, Seedpeople was heavily advertised on its original UK release back in 1992, with ads appearing in many of the horror magazines of the period – including full page ads on the back and inside cover of The Dark Side (which ran for months on end I recall). The film itself wasn’t as successful as the other notable franchises in the Full Moon stable, with many reviews at the time noting that the film was a rip-off of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and essentially that’s what the movie is: a tongue-in-cheek alien invasion flick that echoes the feel of low-budget sci-fi flicks of the 1950s.

“Demonic Toys” director Peter Manoogian’s cheesy 1986 science fiction flick “Eliminators” has, in cinematic theory, everything you could possibly want from an action movie. The feature generous offers up plenty of martial arts experts, badass cyborgs, adorable robot companions, evil scientists, butch lesbians, deadly lasers, intense boat chases, mind-warping time travel devices, Roman soldiers, and, of course, Denise Crosby in a wet t-shirt. What more could you possibly ask for? If you’re concerned with such things as plot, characterization, and story arcs, you’re casting your lines in the wrong waters, as “Eliminators” has little to offer in terms of actual depth and substance. The film follows the adventures of Mandroid, a gentleman who has, for reasons that remain entirely unclear to me, been meticulously transformed into a shoddy, low-budget version of “Robocop” courtesy of a crazed inventor who would love nothing more than to travel back in time and rule ancient Rome.

I would have never thought in a million years that I would be more excited for a Demonic Toys sequel than a Puppet Master sequel... but the trailer for Demonic Toys 2: Personal Demons looks fartastic! Writer/director William Butler may be my new favorite person! Just check out his IMDb page to see all the awesome projects he has worked on; Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Arena, Demolition Man and Eliminators. I will forgive him for his director credits if Demonic Toys 2 lives up to the trailer!
