Sanjay Dutt's comeback and a turning point in his career.
Amitabh Bachchan requested a private screening of the film. The story going around was that he was interested in seeing the performances of Sanjay Dutt and Kumar Gaurav. But another version went that if Amitabh was really interested in Sanjay and Kumar Gaurav's performances, he would have earlier requested a private screening of Jaan Ki Baazi and Ek Se Bhale Do. The real reason he was interested in the film was to see the work of former friend Salim Khan. He was curious to see what Salim Khan had wrote without Javed Akhtar. Amitabh had earlier had a bad fall out with Salim Khan. Amitabh was curious to see what type of film Salim made without him. After the film ,Amitabh took Sanjay and Kumar Gaurav out to China Garden for dinner. He wrote and congratulated the entire Naam team . He was very happy with the film and told everyone they did a good job. All except one..Salim Khan. Amitabh did not congratulate Salim Khan. When Salim Khan was told about this he said that Amitabh complimenting the actors was a back handed compliment to him (Salim Khan). Salim had written the film and of Amitabh loved the film, that means he loved Salim Khan's work.
Rajendra Kumar made this film for saving the fading career of his son Kumar Gaurav and hence wanted him to play the main lead (Sanjay Dutt's role). But Kumar Gaurav being Sanjay's best friend kept his friendship above everything and hence to revive Sanjay's fading career insisted Rajendra Kumar to take him in the main lead. Rajendra Kumar disagreed to this as he predicted that all the accolades will go to Sanjay's character and Gaurav's role will be overshadowed but finally gave in. Still Kumar Gaurav gave a stunning performance in the film which is also highly appreciable and considered as one of his best performances till date.
There are some scenes in naam of sanjay dutt ironing his clothes and kumar gaurav wearing sanjay's shirt, fight etc, salim khan wrote these scenes as he saw his sons salman, abraaz and sohail doing same thing, so salim saab insert these scenes by seeing his sons. When rajendra kumar went to salim khan's home to see the script, rajendra liked the script but he start to make changes in the script, salim saab stood quitly very anoyed as his work is being spoiled. Rajendra looked at salim and he reliased he told salim he wont make any changes naam will be made as salim khan has written.
