Vivienne Verdon-Roe's Oscar-winning "Women - for America, for the World" features interviews with several women who discuss their activism against nuclear weapons and militarism in general. Each of these women deserves praise (as does the documentary), but it's worth noting that these issues have not gone away. You see, right-wingers - regardless of what they call themselves or the entities to which they belong - are all about militarism and they want perceived threats to exist. While poverty persists, military spending has increased, and the US and post-Soviet Russia maintain large stockpiles of nukes.
One of the interviewees is Mary Dent Crisp. She used to be head of the Republican National Committee but got kicked out of the position for daring to support abortion rights and feminism. After all, cults don't allow any deviation. The antithesis to the cult mentality is standing up to racism, sexism, homophobia, militarism, and the other things to which the women in this documentary stood up.
Definitely see the documentary.
