When it was released it replaced The Song of Bernadette (1943) in a theater in Lourdes, in which the latter had been shown exclusively for decades.
Until 2009, there was a theater in Lourdes, France, dedicated exclusively to showing this film. Due to distribution conflicts, it is not shown anymore but still available in DVD.
The film was shot twice, first in French, then in English. The two versions are exactly similar but the English one is slightly longer. In the French version, Sydney Penny is dubbed while the French actors are dubbed in the English one.
