A new rumor has the internet buzzing. It claims that Disney plans to reboot the popular 1980s hit “The Golden Girls.” The new cast would include Tina Fey as Dorothy, Amy Poehler as Sophia, Lisa Kudrow as Rose, and Maya Rudolph as Blanche. The show is rumored to have ten episodes and will be released this summer on Disney+.
Is this true?
No. It’s a satirical post from the Facebook Page Yoda Bby Aby.

Damien Thorn is the antichrist, and the trilogy that tells his unholy tale remains popular almost fifty years later. Indeed, while putting together this Omen movie ranked list and revisiting the original franchise, I was surprised at how well the old movies held up. Omen fans will be happy that the series has been restarted in a pretty interesting way this weekend, with The First Omen a surprisingly excellent prequel to the original trilogy (check out our interviews with the director and cast here), even if it takes one large liberty involving Damien’s birth that some fans may have an issue with. So, how do the Omen films rank against each other? Let’s take a look, but remember that the Fox TV movie, Omen IV: The Awakening, is not included, as I’m sticking with feature films.
The Omen (2006):
There’s honestly no reason for this movie to exist.

Every year, a different group of people win an Academy Award. And every year, the same woman doesn’t. Her name is Diane Warren, she’s one of the greatest American songwriters of the last several decades, and she’s now been nominated 15 times without taking home a single competitive Oscar.
Once upon a time, that lack of recognition was regrettable because Warren had penned some of the most immortal tracks in the modern history of the Best Original Song category, including “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” from “Mannequin,” “How Do I Live” from “Con Air,” and the epochal “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” from “Armageddon.” These days, the fact that Warren hasn’t won is mostly regrettable because she refuses to stop trying.

Mannequin Pussy’s I Got Heaven represents a number of notable firsts for the Philly band: It’s their first studio album in five years, their first with guitarist Maxine Steen, and the first they’ve written together as a unit in the studio. But I Got Heaven isn’t so much a reinvention as it is a reinvigoration—a doubling down on all of the things that make Mannequin Pussy one of the most electrifying rock bands working right now.
I Got Heaven feels at once spontaneous and meticulous, no doubt owing to the collaborative writing process and the steady hand of producer John Congleton. For the way they mix elements of hardcore, shoegaze, and power pop across their music, Mannequin Pussy have long defied strict categorization. And reflective of the band’s penchant for blurring genres, the new album remains fiercely focused on its singular theme of freedom.

Diane Warren has written hit songs for the soundtracks to movies from Mannequin to Armageddon. She has three original songs in 2023 movies, but her song for Flamin’ Hot is especially personal. Warren said she wrote “The Fire Inside” because she related to the movie’s subject.
Flamin’ Hot is inspired by the story of Richard Montañez, who’s said to have invented Flamin’ Hot Cheetos while working as a janitor at Frito-Lay. Eva Longoria directed the film.
“It’s such the American dream,” Warren said Thursday at Deadline’s Sound and Screen event. “When I wrote the song, it was kind of like my anthem too. The fire inside is a double entendre.”
On the surface, Montañez was motivated by the spice of Latin food. But Warren said the real fire inside is the passion any artist has to persevere.

The film Don’t Look Away, directed by Michael Bafaro, is disastrous! It stitches together bits and pieces of the plots from other films like It Follows, Don’t Breathe, and others, which is quite evident. The slasher/gore film revolves around a deadly mannequin who murders people for its own satisfaction. There is, however, no plot built up based on the series of events, and a killer mannequin randomly embarks on a murderous expedition. Frankie, the protagonist, gets to see the mannequin first, and then her friends, who lay their eyes on it, get killed one after another. Starring Kelly Bastard, Colm Hill, Karina Frislev, Michael Bafaro, and others, there is zero character development in the film, which, to some extent, affects their acting skills. Does any of the friends find a way out of the murder spree of the mannequin? What was its motive? Let us try to find some answers to these questions.

When Mannequin was originally released in 1987, the critics were not kind. In fact, they were pretty savage in their near-unanimous hatred for the film. That didn’t stop it from being a modest box-office hit, though — and in the decades that followed, it managed to pick up new fans, some drawn to the film’s romance, some drawn to the film’s stars, and some who subscribe to the “so bad it’s good” school of cult cinema. At a fan event, McCarthy said he realized he wouldn’t be getting an Oscar nomination for Mannequin, but he wound up loving the experience nonetheless. Back in 2019, indie rock-focused record label Tiny Engines essentially shuttered after a number of its artists accused them of payment issues and breach of contract — which co-founder Chuck Daley admitted to. Now, co-founder Will Miller has announced that he’s reviving the label as its sole owner under a “new management structure.”
In a statement shared to Tiny Engines’ Twitter Friday, Miller wrote that he’s “committed to making sure artists and their records are being cared for properly and treated with the required respect,” as well as “ensur[ing] that artists are being paid what they are owed.”
The statement clarifies that all accounting between the label and its artists has been completed, with all artists having now been paid in full. Additionally, 80% of the label’s masters ownership contracts have now been amended to licensing contracts — with the remaining 20% scheduled for completion by the end of 2023 — meaning the label...

Leila, a very beautiful woman, is putting on lipstick before making a call. The scene then changes to a mannequin-making lab just before the titles of the movie appear on screen. He will reprise the role of Dr. Ian Sullivan, a nationally renowned pediatric surgeon and new hire at Chastain. His groundbreaking surgeries rescue the most vulnerable patients and make him key to the hospital’s financial stability. But as Ian’s demons emerge, both his daughter, Dr. Cade Sullivan (Kaley Ronayne) and our doctors face a dilemma. Where do you draw the line with a doctor whose own life is spiraling dangerously out of control, even as the keeps saving lives?
Dr. Ian Sullivan made his debut in the medical drama last season following Cade’s nearly fatal shooting when she desperately needed a donor match for her rare blood type. She survives but Ian ends up becoming a medical emergency himself after suffering from abdominal pains that turned out to be pancreatic cancer.

The 14 Oscar nominations Alex North received for his film scores between 1952 and 1985 make him one of the most-recognized composers in academy history, but also one of the most overlooked, as all of his outings were unsuccessful. He did, however, earn the organization’s esteem in 1986 as the recipient of an honorary Oscar – the first given to an artist in his music field. Now, the academy’s board of governors have chosen to fill in another blank space by making Diane Warren the first songwriter on their list of honorary awardees. After 13 unfortunate Best Original Song losses, the time has finally come for the perennial contender to have her day in the sun.
Along with Michael J. Fox, Euzhan Palcy, and Peter Weir, Warren is set to be honored at the upcoming 13th annual Governors Awards. The 65-year-old has earned this accolade because her “music and lyrics have magnified the emotional...

Diane Warren is finally getting her man… Oscar.
Warren, who’s had 13 Academy Award nominations in the best original song category so far — but, legendarily, no wins yet — will be receiving an honorary Oscar. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Tuesday that Warren, Euzhan Palcy and Peter Weir will receive honorary Oscars at this year’s Governors Awards ceremony on Nov. 19 in Los Angeles.
The songwriter behind some of music’s biggest hits first received a nomination in 1988 for “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” from “Mannequin,” and that was only the beginning, although the flow of noms would not become steady until years later. Her next nomination came close to a decade after that, in 1997 for the soaring ballad “Because You Loved Me,” from “Up Close and Personal.”
In subsequent years, with artists like Celine Dion and Lady Gaga singing her tunes, Warren has always been a favorite contender,...

Samantha Jones seemed to have it all — except a happy ending.
For six seasons and two movies, Kim Cattrall put the “sex” in “Sex and the City,” while adding a dose of glamour and surprising relatability to boot. Samantha came complete with her own company, trendy apartment, runway wardrobe and movie-star boyfriend, but it was Cattrall who gave the character desire and soul. That’s why some fans were so disappointed to see her vanish from the franchise after being ill-used in 2010’s “Sex and the City 2.” After exiting the series of her own accord, Cattrall says she had no advance warning before news broke in late 2020 that Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) had decided to reunite for HBO Max’s “And Just Like That …” The streaming reboot premiered in December 2021 — and set Twitter afire — without Samantha.

Five of the seven individual songwriters included in this year’s lineup are first-time Oscar nominees, with Diane Warren (“Somehow You Do”) standing out as the only female veteran. “There’s a lot of comments,” she says, from people at “the end of their rope, where the song gave them hope and made them stronger. There’s thousands and thousands,” she sighs. “One night I just stayed up almost all night, reading them and I was crying. The fact that I wrote the song for this movie, sitting in my room and somehow it got through to people going through a hard time, it’s just crazy.”
We talked with Warren as part of Gold Derby’s special film songwriters “Meet the Experts” Q&a event with key Oscar contenders. Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Back in 1993, a young songwriter named Liz Phair came out of nowhere to drop one of the Nineties’ defining albums: Exile in Guyville. Liz Phair came from the Chicago indie-rock scene, but she had a new story to tell: the secret life of an ordinary twentysomething woman, grappling with love and sex and insecurity.
Exile was Phair’s song-by-song answer to the Rolling Stones’ 1972 classic, Exile on Main St. That might have seemed arrogant, especially coming from a girl who’d never made an album before. But Liz Phair didn...

Exclusive: Network Entertainment has optioned Andrew McCarthy’s bestselling memoir Brat: An ’80s Story and will produce a documentary adaptation, the company said Monday.
McCarthy, who rose to fame in the 1980s with roles in such classics as St. Elmo’s Fire, Pretty in Pink and Weekend at Bernie’s, long has pondered what it has meant to him to be an integral member of the iconic group of movie stars known as the Brat Pack. Writing the book, released earlier this year, answered many questions that he’s wrestled with throughout his life. But it also brought up more. Was being identified as a Brat Packer the worst thing that ever happened to him, or was it actually the best?
Brat will follow McCarthy across the country as he goes directly to the source, seeking out other Brat Pack members to find out what it has meant to each of them...

‘Unabashed, unfettered romanticism’ runs wild in Frank Borzage’s golden-age masterpiece of a runaway wife and the crazy Frenchman who pursues her. Long lost to awful, ragged 16mm prints, the newly restored gem will dazzle fans of delirious love stories, where the right people get together despite distance, time, and the interference of jealous husbands, misunderstandings, accusations of murder and natural disasters. All the above figure in this mini-epic, yet the movie never seems like a genre mash-up. Jean Arthur skips the squeaky line deliveries, Charles Boyer drops the gloom act, Colin Clive is more frightening than in his horror movies and Leo Carillo steals the show with one of the most endearing characters of the 1930s.

Yg and Mozzy have released the title track from their upcoming collaborative album, Perfect Timing.
“Perfect Timing” finds Yg and Mozzy trading verses about their beginnings and big dreams over a slinky groove centered around a delicate guitar loop, keys, and some windswept chimes. Los Angeles-based singer/rapper Blxst ties the track together with the hook, “The timing was perfect/But as humble as I am, I kinda deserve it/We done got it out the mud and climbed to the surface/If I’ma take the risks, then it’s gotta be worth it.

At the 93rd Academy Awards, songwriter Diane Warren made the wrong kind of history, losing out in her 12th bid for Best Original Song.
With her loss last night, Warren became the most-nominated woman in the history of the Oscars to have never won. But she is nonetheless taking it all in stride.
“Ok so I lost again but U know what was the hugest win?? Feeling more love and support than I have ever felt in my life,” she wrote on Facebook. “Thank U everyone in my movie music community who voted for this song, U are the best of the best and whenever U choose a song of mine it is huge huge honor that I don’t take lightly and that I am deeply grateful for. Thank U everyone for all the kind and lovely words of support, it means more than any statue.”

The songs in the running for the 2021 Best Original Song Oscar are “Fight for You” (“Judas and the Black Messiah”), “Hear My Voice” (“The Trial of the Chicago 7”), “Husavik” (“Eurovision Song Contest”), “Io sì (Seen)” (“The Life Ahead”), and “Speak Now” (“One Night in Miami”). Our current odds show that “Speak Now” (17/5) is favored to win, followed in order by “Husavik” (39/10), “Io sì (Seen)” (4/1), “Fight for You” (9/2), and “Hear My Voice” (9/2).
Eleven of the 12 individual songwriters included in this year’s lineup are first-time Oscar nominees, with Diane Warren (“Io sì (Seen)”) standing out as the only veteran. Since she was first recognized for “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” (“Mannequin”) 34 years ago, Warren has amassed 11 more nominations but has yet to win. This story about Diane Warren first appeared in the Down to the Wire issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
When she landed a nomination this year for writing the song “Io sì (Seen)” from “The Life Ahead,” Diane Warren extended her own record for Oscar success: She’s now been nominated for songwriting 12 times over five different decades, from 1987 to 2021, albeit without ever winning.
“How cool is it that the greatest composers and songwriters on the planet choose my songs to be in the top five, you know?” she said. “It’s a big deal, and I don’t take it for granted for a second.”
A pause. “Would I like to win? Yeah, that would be really nice.”
Warren gave TheWrap a guided tour to all 12 of her Oscar nominations.

While Glenn Close has taken up a lot of the conversation surrounding overdue Oscars in recent years, another perennial bridesmaid is hoping to finally win an Oscar of her own. Songwriter Diane Warren is once again nominated for Best Original Song, for “Io Si (Seen)” from “The Life Ahead,” sharing writing credit with the song’s vocalist, Laura Pausini. Warren has now racked up a whopping 12 nominations but has yet to actually take home the little gold man, even while finding success at other awards shows like the Grammys and the Emmys. She won a Golden Globe last month for “Io Si,” which might just put her on the path to winning the Oscar once and for all.
Warren’s 11 previous Oscar losses were: “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” from “Mannequin” (1987); “Because You Loved Me” from “Up Close and Personal” (1996); “How Do I Live” from “Con Air” (1997); “I Don...

Prolific composer Diane Warren has written nine number one songs and had 32 tunes hit the Top Ten on the Billboard Charts. She has won a Grammy, an Emmy, a Golden Globe and three consecutive Billboard Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year. She’s also be named ASCAP’s Writer of the Year three times and was inducted into the Songwriter Hall of Fame in 2001. But one honor that has eluded her is the Academy Award. Though she hasn’t reach Susan Lucci territory (she finally won an Emmy for “All My Children” on her 19th nomination) Warren has been a bridesmaid at the Oscars 11 times.
But she may well win this year for her wistful ballad “Io Si (Seen)” from the Italian-language Netflix drama “The Life Ahead,” which begins streaming Nov. 13. Laura Pausini, who recorded the song, co-wrote the Italian lyrics with Niccolo Agliardi.

Katy Keene Series Premiere Recap: Welcome to New York, Josie McCoy! Grade The CW's Riverdale Spinoff
In case it wasn’t abundantly clear from the multiple voiceovers and use of Taylor Swift’s Big Apple anthem, Katy Keene — The CW’s Lucy Hale-led Riverdale offshoot, which premiered on Thursday — takes place in New York City. Well, a version of it, anyway.
Katy Keene presents a candy-coated New York, the kind of place where it feels like your dreams are always coming true — even when they’re not. And with its infectious optimism and relentless positivity, Katy Keene is also a welcome reprieve from the gloom and doom of its parent series.

Will Diane Warren finally win an Oscar? She’s nominated for Best Original Song for “I’m Standing with You” from “Breakthrough” (watch the music video above). This is her 11th nomination, but she has yet to win. In fact, her latest nomination means she has contended for songwriting in five straight decades: the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s. Granted, her current nomination is for her work in 2019, but this nomination came in the 2020s, and it probably won’t be her last, so even if you don’t count this one, it’s only a matter of time. Check out the complete list of nominations here.

Diane Warren hopes that her song “I’m Standing With You” from “Breakthrough” will “speak to” the audience, and let them know that “somebody’s always standing with them.” The prolific songwriter spoke about her original tune from the 20th Century Fox release in a new behind-the-scenes featurette. Watch the exclusive video above.
See Diane Warren Interview: ‘Breakthrough’ songwriter
Directed by Roxann Dawson, it tells the true story of a 14-year-old boy (Marcel Ruiz) who was pronounced dead after drowning in a lake before his faithful mother (Crissy Metz) prayed him back to life. In addition to starring in the film, Metz also sings the uplifting melody, and admits to being a little nervous about pulling it off. Being a life-long fan of Warren’s, she wanted to “make this beautiful, big song authentic and real.”
For her part, Warren hoped to “capture” what it feels like “to know someone is on your side.

So I’ve finally seen Last Christmas, the critically panned rom (ummm) com (errrr) written by Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings, and the first thing to say is, “Hooo boy.” The second thing is, “Whatever Emma was smoking when she came up with that movie’s plot twist, which has now ruined Wham! for ever, well, I’ll have what she’s having.” Actually, you know what? A version of this story about Diane Warren and “Breakthrough” first appeared in The Race Begins issue of TheWrap’s Oscar magazine.
Diane Warren, one of the most successful songwriters of the last four decades, doesn’t typically lend her talents to small, faith-based films. But there was something about “Breakthrough,” a drama based on the true story of a young man who fell through the ice on a frozen lake and was declared dead but recovered, that felt timely to her.
“We live in such divided, negative times,” she said. “And here’s a song about, ‘Whatever you go through, I’m here with you.’ What’s wrong with a song about standing with each other? And what’s wrong with a miracle? We could use some.”
Still, she was initially uncertain what she could contribute to the film. “I first agonized over what I was gonna write for this movie,...

American Dad Season 16 Episode 6
“You don’t understand. These are my friends and I’ll never turn my back on them.“
Episodes of American Dad that revolve around Steve and his friends always have a lot of potential, especially when Roger is the agent of chaos in the equation. Their whole escapade to recreate the film Mannequin, which goes wildly off course remains one of my favorite installments in the series, so there’s a lot that can be done with these characters when in the right context.
Snot, Barry, and Toshi have been apart of this show right from the start and they make up an integral part of who Steve is. They’re a constant.

Most of us thought Glenn Close (“The Wife”) would finally win her first Oscar on Sunday night after six previous losses. It was so shocking when she lost to Olivia Colman (“The Favourite”) that Colman became the most apologetic award winner since Adele beat Beyonce at the Grammys. But Close isn’t the only one who left the Oscars with a big Iou. So is she really the most overdue for an award?
Yes. Yes she is.
Almost 1,000 readers responded to our poll to let us know who they thought was the most overdue. They said it was Close — and it wasn’t even close. A whopping 64% of respondents picked her as the individual most sorely in need of an Oscar, and there’s still a chance she’ll get it too. After all, Geraldine Page and Al Pacino both had to wait until their eighth tries to claim their elusive trophies.

Ten-time Oscar nominee Diane Warren didn’t win Sunday in the Original Song category at the Academy Awards for Rbg‘s feminist anthem “I’ll Fight,” but powerhouse singer Jennifer Hudson knocked it out of the park singing it in the first performance among among the nominees.
The song also served as a reminder of the Academy’s original plan to limit the number of Original Song nominees who would perform during this year’s Oscar telecast. The original list reportedly only had frontrunners “All the Stars” from Black Panther and “Shallow” from A Star Is Born, which would end up winning the prize and keep Warren out of the winners’ circle yet again.
The organization made its reverse decision official in a January 31 tweet: Academy Award-winning Dreamgirls star Hudson would indeed perform Warren’s girl-power song.
In 2018, Warren shared a Best Song nomination with Common for “Stand Up for Something” from Marshall.

Songwriter Diane Warren doesn’t expect her Academy Award losing streak to come to an end on Sunday night — something she expects will push her into “Susan Lucci territory” in the process.
The songwriter, nominated for the 10th time for Best Original Song for “I’ll Fight” from the documentary “Rbg,” said she anticipates Lady Gaga will end up taking home the Oscar for “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born.”
Warren, interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on E!, said she’s usually “pretty nervous” before the Oscars, but now is “pretty sure I’m going to continue my Susan Lucci — well now I’m officially in Susan Lucci territory because its double digits. Gaga is going to win this. I’m just happy to be here.”
