Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr.’s resume spans a wide spectrum of genres and performances. While some of these have been huge hits like the MCU movies and his Oscar-winning performance in Oppenheimer, others have failed to make an impact, including the 2014 legal drama The Judge, which recently surged in popularity on Netflix’s streaming charts.

The 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King's horror novel "It" may be best known for Tim Curry's performance as Pennywise, who made an entire generation seriously terrified of clowns, but it would be nothing without the heart and soul of the Loser's Club. In the 1950s, a group of misfit kids growing up in Derry, Maine are brought together, partially because they don't belong anywhere else, but also because they happen to be targeted by the malevolent force that haunts their town, stealing and murdering its local children. Together, they have to face off against Pennywise to stop the killing once and for all. That's what they think, anyway. But despite defeating Pennywise as children, they're forced to return to Derry as adults and once again confront the terrors of their youth.
As a result of this, "It" has an interesting casting dilemma of finding not only seven...

If there's one thing that you can say about Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer," it's that the three-hour historical epic about the father of the atomic bomb boasts an incredibly deep bench. Nolan packs the film with well-known and well-liked actors, with many big names seemingly happy to sign on for little more than a cameo if it let them be part of "Oppenheimer." But aside from the Matt Damons and Kenneth Branaghs, there's also a surprising number of cast members who began their careers as child stars.
Some came up during the mid-2000s golden age of the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, while others date back decades earlier. Also, several have since gone on to lead well-developed and respected careers, while others are still in the process of proving themselves as adult actors in their own right. Whether they're child stars who audiences are surprised to see in grown-up roles,...

Diehard Halloween fans have been hoping that the character of Tommy Doyle would be returning for one or both of the franchise’s upcoming sequels and now, it’s official. Prominent ’80s star Anthony Michael Hall will be portraying a grown-up version of one of the kids that Laurie Strode babysat on that unfortunate holiday when Michael Myers first escaped custody in the upcoming follow-up Halloween Ends.
The 51-year-old actor rose to stardom as a teenager, popping up in coming-of-age classics like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Weird Science. To avoid being typecast as a geek, he began to branch out in his adolescence by accepting parts in Out of Bounds, Johnny Be Good, Edward Scissorhands and Six Degrees of Separation. Now, he’s taking the plunge into horror by joining one of the genre’s biggest franchises.
Tommy Doyle was first played by Brian Andrews way back in the day.

Robert Downey Jr. is set to make his directorial debut with the pilot episode of an upcoming TV series called Singularity. What's cool about this is that the series stars Anthony Michael Hall and as many of you know, Downey Jr. and Hall starred together in the classic John Hughes film Weird Science.
Over the years they've also worked together on 1988’s Johnny Be Good and 1994’s Hail Caesar, and the 1985-1986 season of Saturday Night Live. I love that that they will be working together again!
There are no details on what this series will be about, but it's cool to see Downey trying something new with directing. Downey is also producing the series with his wife Susan Downey through their Team Downey Productions. They have a first-look deal with Sonar Entertainment.
Their production company is currently involved with developing Sherlock Holmes 3, a Perry Mason HBO series, and...

Some friendships are unshakeable, and it seems that Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Michael Hall have maintained their bond since they were both rising stars in the 1980s. The duo appeared in three movies together, 1985’s “Weird Science,” 1988’s “Johnny Be Good,” and 1994’s “Hail Caesar,” but you can do the math and see that it’s been 20 years since they’ve hung out on set.

Nooooooo! Killjoys did not just kill off our pretty pretty princess. Did it?
Is there a chance (like with Turin), that Pawter survived Delle Seyah's blade? Though Killjoys Season 2 Episode 9 felt like the character's swan song, I'm hoping she will mysteriously resurface in the finale.
I'm in denial, it looks like she's the latest victim of the Johnny Jaqobis curse.
Sadly, I saw Pawter's death coming and even mentioned it several times in my reviews. That said, watching it go down still broke my heart.
Watch Killjoys Season 2 Episode 9 Online
For a fun, light-hearted space romp Killjoys certainly took a turn toward the darker side with this installment. With the true purpose of Jelco's wall revealed and Pawter's tough decision to kill all those Westerlyn's, this wasn't your typical episode.
All the dead bodies in the opening moments threw me for a moment, but you soon realized the writers were playing with time again.

It feels like the second season is building toward an explosive finale.
All the puzzle pieces are fitting snugly into place, and I'm officially fearing for the lives of some of our favorite characters. Do you think the writers would kill off someone like Alvis or Pawter? Well, Killjoys Season 2 Episode 8 made it seem like no one's safe.
And who the hells is Aneela anyway? I need more answers, guys.
Watch Killjoys Season 2 Episode 8 Online
The opening scene of the episode really set the tone for the entire hour. Sure, there were your typical light "Killjoys" moments, but the series went to some dark places here and I'm afraid things are only going to get worse from this point forward.
Dutch confronting Johnny was gut-wrenching. Even though most of us understand his desire to help Pawter and the folks of Old Town, the lying was a tough pill to swallow.

What jumps to mind when you hear the phrase "Quentin Tarantino movie"? Hyperviolence? A bunch of different B-movies pastiched into something new? A lot of dialogue with a lot of bad language? That one "F" word in particular? Any of those could be right, but there's another thing many of Tarantino's movies have in common: a big, meaty role for an actor who's maybe in need of a career boost. In the case of the Tarantino movie currently in theaters, The Hateful Eight, the role is that of Daisy Domergue, a wily, foul-mouthed criminal played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. Now Leigh hasn't been without work.

I never thought that Back to the Future should have a fourth movie and at the moment, there are no plans to reboot what is probably my favourite franchise of all time. After seeing the movie back in the cinema last year, it because a new cinema highlight for me. But what if the most famous time-traveling movie ever (if you disagree with what please tell me in the comments below) was to head to Broadway in a new form?!
Well, this evening, Deadline have announced that the movie could be going to Broadway with some information that the film’s Writer / Director, Robert Zemeckis is in talks with his co-writer, Bob Gale and the man responsible for the awesome score, Alan Silvestri to transition the movie to the New York stage!

If there were any lingering doubt as to how bad 'Johnny Be Good' really is, you should just re-read the last ten words of the previous sentence. One of the cultural oddities of 'Johnny Be Good' is that future Academy Award nominee John Hawkes appears as a pizza delivery boy who winds up on the receiving end of a pie-to-the-face delivered by Paul Gleason ('The Breakfast Club,' 'Trading Places'). For reasons I don't understand, I decided to bring up 'Johnny Be Good' while speaking with Hawkes about his quite fantastic performance in 'Martha Marcy May Marlene' (the full interview will publish next week). Hollywood has been making football movies since the first talkies, but they've rarely given fans a reason to cheer. Today, Back To The Future makes a welcome return to cinemas to celebrate its 25th anniversary, and in celebration we've got a little featurette giving you the background to the movie's famous Johnny Be Good performance, which should provide some news even to die-hard fans. This snippet includes behind-the-scenes footage of Michael J. Fox shredding the Chuck Berry classic on guitar, and proves just how good he actually was with the guitar. And who doesn't love the sight of someone playing guitar behind his head just for effect? This clip comes from the Blu-ray release of all three Back To The Future films, due on October 25, but the cinema release should keep you going in the meantime. If you're hungry for more, however, Shortlist has another clip - this one focused on Christopher Lloyd's Doc Brown - and we've got an oral history of the films from director Robert Zemeckis...

Photograph by Justin Bishop. Lovable, quotable Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, perhaps the only celebrity to speak favorably of Lada Gaga in the past year, has just announced that he will not participate in the 2010-2011 figure skating season. In a press release addressed to his “dearest fans,” he wrote: “The main reason for my decision is to have more time to reinvent my skating. I want to create a new skating image for myself so that when I return to competitive skating, I can perform in a way that is both unique and inspiring.” (He also mentions previous commitments involving an upcoming fashion line, a single, a reality series, and a memoir.) With a specific reference to Sochi 2014, he promises that he’ll spend his time practicing and performing. Johnny be good!

Robert Downey, Jr. has pulled off an incredible feat in his career, going from nearly less than zero for around 25 years to box office hero in the last two. Aside from supporting roles in a few popular movies, Mr. Downey could have been labeled box office poison for most of his career, better known for the poisons he was putting into his system than for his movies. But despite so many commercial strikes, Hollywood kept letting him play, and it finally paid off in 2008. Following supporting work in movies like Back to School and Weird Science, Robert Downey, Jr.'s first at-bat as a leading man was The Pick-Up Artist in 1987, playing a womanizer opposite Molly Ringwald. The comedy wasn't disastrous in its first September weekend, grossing $4.5 million at 1,129 theaters, but it was overshadowed by the debut of Fatal Attraction that same weekend and fizzled out rapidly by the era's standards,...

I was all prepared to be the pretentious douche who, when ranking Robert Downey, Jr.'s five best roles, weighed the list heavy with pre-rehabbed Downey. Until Iron Man, Downey had always been a brilliant but under-appreciated actor. Even still, most of his pre-comeback script choices were spotty, at best. He used to excel at the smarmy sleazy guy with the occasional bit of charm (The Pick-Up Arist, Two Girls and a Guy) and, up until around 1995 -- when his career went off the rails -- he made a lot of bad to mediocre guilty pleasure movies, like Heart and Souls, Air America, Chances Are and Only You (if he wasn't snorting coke before Only You, that movie probably would've driven him to it). He was trying really hard, I suppose, to be a romantic comedy leading man, and had drugs not taken over his life, it's sad to think...

How do you like your sports-themed movies? Heavy on the sport or just a side of sport with a heaping helping of feel-good story? Me… I’m not tellin’ though I’m sure there’s some conclusion that can be made after you’ve seen my list. First I wanna share a few stories that inspired me to put pen to paper type up my list. A long time ago Espn.com’s Bill Simmons started his list of the best 72 sports movies of the past 33 years, but the list is incomplete and I worry it may never be finished — come on Bill! Then there was the news we reported of the Vince Lombardi project starring Robert De Niro in the lead role which got the folks over at the Dallas Morning News asking who would play Tom Landry if when he is immortalized on the big screen. Finally the A.

Once in awhile I allow myself an off-cinema spin here. This is a spin followed by a triple sow cow double toe loop triple axel death spiral! I have no idea if those things go together. I've just been watching too much Olympic figure skating. But never fear, I do have a few movie-referencey things to say. So let's talk figure skating, evil costumes and showmanship or: why Johnny Weir is king or at least princess of the sport... Royal Highness is what I'm saying.
If you watched the men's short program last night, you have to read Joe & Ab Chao's hilarious live blog. But, if you didn't, some costume gazing:
From left to right we have Japan's Noburani Oda (#4), Russia's Evgeni Plushenko (#1), Switzerland's Stephane Lambiel (#5), Japan's Daisuke Takahahsi (#3), and Canada's Patrick Chan (#7). You are not actually required to wear black to compete but apparently you can't make it to medal contention without it.
