Calvin Graham enlisted in the Navy after Pearl Harbor when he was 12 but lied about his age. He would have trouble with some of the officers he served with but his commanding officer thinks he's a good sailor. And when he finds out Graham lied about his age, he chose to keep quiet. But the man was transferred out, the one who succeeded him who doesn't like Graham had it in for him. And when Graham asked for leave so he can attend a funeral he denied it and gave him a pass which didn't give him enough to get back to his ship. When he came he was told to report somewhere which turns out to be a detention center for deserters. He would find himself experiencing all sorts of indignities and no one knows where he is.
