Even though we have what appears to be an awesome crossover in the form of “Crisis on Earth-x” to look forward to next week, the reality of the situation is that the bulk of whatever plots unfolding across each of the Arrowverse‘s individual shows will have to be put on hold for the time being. This doubly builds anticipation for their reprisals, especially when you consider the cliffhangers that both Supergirl and The Flash left us on this week.
Well, expect some major payoff throughout the first full week of December when The CW airs midseason finales for its DC TV shows. First on the block is Supergirl, which will see Samantha finally and reluctantly emerge as this year’s big bad, that being Reign, in the episode appropriately titled, um, “Reign.”

After bursting on to the scene with his beautiful, string-heavy score for Beasts of the Southern Wild, composer Dan Romer has worked on a number of projects, but easily the highest-profile thus far is Cary Fukunaga‘s harrowing triumph Beasts of No Nation. Reteaming with the director after the 2012 short film Sleepwalking in the Rift (seen below), the full score, which employs ambient synthesizers to give an ethereal feel, is now available to stream.
“I didn’t write a note until I saw the film. Originally Cary gave me free reign. He was like, ‘Follow your heart.’ I came up with something with a lot of strings, percussion, horns, and piano. Cary was like, ‘Great, now let’s tear it apart,'” Romer tells Business Insider. “In the months that I worked on that film I don’t think a day went by that I didn’t cry. "He’s a role model for me. He has integrity and makes choices that are brave and unusual. [He’s] always telling me ‘don’t go for the money. Follow your heart.’" If you are under 30, it may come as a surprise that that quote, via Orlando Bloom in 2005, refers to Johnny Depp and would probably have had us nodding our heads at the time. But maybe quoting Bloom is a questionable tactic, so how about Marlon Brando’s oft-repeated assertion that Depp "is the most talented actor of his generation"? Or why don’t we take it from the horse’s mouth, back when he was but a foal, when Depp himself would say things like, "I want to do interesting work. I’m the exact opposite of what a film star is supposed to be and I’m just trying to ... make good movies that one day I can be...

Even though Joe Lynch has abandoned straightforward horror in order to make more action-centric adventures, the filmmaker’s genre love stills finds a way into any project he tackles. His latest offering, Everly, may present itself as a contained survival story at first glance, but once the gore kicks in and insides start finding their way outside, Lynch’s horror mentalities once again make themselves known. This is one of the factors that makes Everly more than just a Salma Hayek vessel with guns and explosions, and one of the main reasons I gave Lynch’s film a favorable review coming out of Fantastic Fest.
In between the countless screenings and flurry of milkshakes, I managed to sit down with Lynch to talk about his new film, but the conversation evolved into much more. Starting off with a few questions about Everly, Lynch revealed who was originally cast in Salma Hayek’s role,...

She’s a Disney princess! Well, at least in this photo. Jennifer Hudson recently posed for acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz as the princess Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog.”
The photo is titled “Where You Always Follow Your Heart” and it’s part of Disney’s ongoing celebrity advertising campaign, which began in 2007. The image will appear in upcoming issues of Vanity Fair, People, and Oprah Winfrey’s O Magazine.
Liebovitz called the Oscar winner “gorgeous” as she snapped her pics. On hand to watch the photo shoot was JHud’s four-year-old son, David, who she says was thrilled to see his mommy transformed into a princess.
Miss Hudson also pointed out that, a mere decade ago, she made her living performing on Disney cruises, singing and below deck in stage shows.

Monday night on "The Voice," Cee Lo Green was full of hot air. No, not in his comments to the contestants. He just farted.
At first, host Carson Daly was confused about why the coaches were laughing. “What’d you say? Your nervous?” Daly asked the judges. “I have gas,” Cee Lo replied. And the gas pass came up again when the coaches were giving advice.
“Follow your heart and be in the moment. You’re their coach,” Christina Aguilera told a contestant. To which Adam Levine quipped, “Just follow your fart.”
Well, that’s the glory of a live show. Although, as MTV pointed out -- host Carson Daly seemed a little disappointed with the judges.

As the executive producer of Antiques Roadshow, I get asked to peek in underwear drawers. Well, sometimes I do. If you're not interested in showing me something precious that's been tucked in between your silkies, then it's some dusty corner of the house: do other people go to dinner parties and wind up getting dirty in the attic?
As we climb the stairs I tell my hopeful hosts, "I'm not an appraiser, I just sound like one." Or, "Producing a show about antiques doesn't give me the background I need to evaluate your object." And when we finally reach the treasure destination, I prep them with this little tidbit: "If you think you have a six-figure object in your house that you don't know about... you don't." Really.
Ah, but one in ten thousand times, it does happens. You see it every Monday on PBS as millions watch Roadshow dreams come true.

Developer Pop Quiz is a weekly interview series in which we ask developers from around the industry the same 10 questions and post their responses.
Capcom's Seth Killian has his dream job. He's gone from organizing the famed Evo fighting tournaments (which prominently featured Capcom's fighting games, which he is an expert at) to being a Special Combat Advisor for the games that he grew up playing, and running the online community to make Capcom's releases something special, for fans that are pretty much just like him. On top of being an all-around nice guy, he has a unique perspective on his job, and the industry as a whole, because he's a fan whose love of games has gotten him to where he is today.
He's also the first person to be featured in a Developer Pop Quiz that's has a boss character named after them.

The year 2011 is going to be a good one for divas. New albums from Britney Spears and Lady Gaga are already within view, and it's quite likely that we could end up getting new music from Beyoncé before these 12 months are up. Madonna could also check in with new music this year, perhaps adding to her already-large docket of chart-topping hits (she has a dozen to her name so far). On this day in 1987, she picked up her fifth career number one on the Billboard Hot 100 when "Open Your Heart" ascended to that position.
"Open Your Heart" was the fourth single to come from Madonna's massive third album True Blue (which was released back in the summer of 1986). Two of those singles — "Live to Tell" and "Papa Don't Preach" — had already topped the chart, and the title track from True Blue came up just short (it ended up at...

"Imagine 'Saw' with a higher purpose". In director Ty Jones's Last Breath (2010), a husband (Ty Jones) and wife (Mandy Bannon), whose marriage is on its last leg, its last breath, find themselves imprisoned by a sadistic killer (Aaron Laue)--forced to make choices that will ultimately determine their family's survival or demise. Last Breath also features Jeff East of Stan Winston's Pumpkinhead in a cameo appearance. Ty Jones wrote the screenplay, directed and acted in Last Breath while Aaron Laue stars and produces. We had the chance to ask Ty Jones a few questions about Last Breath, here is what he had to say.
Who is Ty Jones and what is he all about?
I started making films 10 years ago with a dream to make movies that would change the world. I know that may seem idealistic to most, but I believe we have the ability to move,...

We're deluged with films that are hopelessly repetitive, because that's the way we like them
Amanda Seyfried is as wholesome as you could wish, and Gael García Bernal is a gorgeous giggle. Vanessa Redgrave turns in the wackiest grand-dame turn of her career. The plot's pleasingly ludicrous, and Italy's never looked sunnier. These ingredients you can understand. Why, though, does Letters to Juliet have to be so staggeringly unoriginal?
As every twist is entirely predictable, there's never a moment when you aren't quite certain what will happen next. The characters aren't allowed to deviate even marginally from the stereotypes on which they're based. Each shot is as conventionally framed as a picture postcard. Messages like "It's never too late for love" and "Follow your heart" are brandished as if they were startlingly new insights.
In other fields, purveyors of the derivative are expected to show a modicum of embarrassment. Cinema seems to be different.

Sometimes, you gotta take the plunge, even if you don't know just how smooth the landing will be. This was the theme of "Leap of Faith," last night's Brothers & Sisters.
Below, TV Fanatic staff members analyze some of Sunday evening's many developments in greater detail in our weekly Brothers & Sisters Round Table discussion ...
1. What was your favorite scene last night?
The Barnacle: Obviously the mad dash to stop the wedding, compounded by Kitty setting off the security alarm. Funny stuff. Somehow you knew that was coming ...
M.L. House: Anything with Rebecca and Justin. I was sure she would blame Justin, or take her frustrations out on him, for not wanting the baby. Very glad she did not.
L.J. Gibbs: Robert and Kevin's parting of ways. Almost too cheesy to be touching, but come on, if you can't love that male bonding, there's something wrong with you.
2. The Ojai...

Rani Mukerji is fed up of the vicious attempts by people within the industry who insist on labelling her as the exclusive leading lady of Yash Raj Films. According to Rani, some jealous actresses are spreading the rumours. Meanwhile, Rani.s friends say that contrary to rumours that she is just not interested in signing films outside the Yash Raj banner, she has been reading scripts by other banners but is in no hurry to sign films just to prove a point. She was heard telling a friend, .I won.t do anything just because it.s expected of me. My heart has to be in it..Rani now finds herself in the same position she was during Saathiya in 2002. One of her friends said, .At that time, Rani had only one project, which was Yash Raj.s Saathiya. She had told friends that if it didn.t work,...
