A very bad movie

This movie was filmed in my home town. It's neat seeing familiar streets and shops on the big screen. One corner store where as a kid I used to frequent is particularly neat to see. It's the cafe where Margot Kidder dances on one of the tables. It's 3 blocks from my house. The movie itself is horrible, with maybe 2 funny scenes. One is a shot of some guy waiting for a bus near the airport. The guy appears to be freezing to death. (winters here are cold, but not that cold). Second funny scene? Al Waxman as a mobster! Come on now.....the King of Kensington.....bad casting or what?

Very Bad Movie...but almost in a good way

This movie was one of the worst I have ever seen. Bad in that it was trying to be good and funny, but failed miserably. I can accept movies that are in a genre where being bad or cheesy or campy is part of the fun, i.e. Sci-Fi, Horror, etc. but this movie was just plain bad.

It was also so bad that I had to keep watching, thinking, "It can't get any worse, can it?" And it would of course. So then it became entertainment...especially when the boom mic would enter the shot. Ed Wood would have been proud.

The story gets better though. I was taking a film course from the director, and we had to watch this movie as an assignment. It was really hard going to school the next day and talk about the movie. Keeping a straight face. I just mentioned the opening sequence, which were shots of New York City...asking him how he got those. They were extremely shaky of course.

Anyway...I do not recommend this film in any shape or form. Unless you like really bad humour, poor direction, and poor writing. It is awful when people fail miserably at being funny.

Mob Story

Talk about boring, It took me 2+ hours to watch a movie that was 1 hour & 33 minutes.Instead of just turning it off, for whatever reason I kept pausing it to go do other things & coming back to it.There was nothing really funny about Mob Story.If there was, I must have missed it.The only funny thing I ever remember happening was the part where the hit-man licked his gun & it got stuck to his tongue because of the freezing weather.Now that was funny!!! Nothing really ever happens either.The only time something happens was the last 10-15 minutes which also had to be the best part (If you can even call it that) of the movie (I guess they decided to save the best for last, Ha Ha) As you've probably already guessed, Mob Story is a movie I would NOT recommend.If somebody told me ahead of time they were thinking of watching it, I'd tell them to skip it & watch something else.There are millions & millions of things you could be better off doing with your time so why do like I did & waste an hour & 33 minutes of your life you'll never get back

The Don Comes to Winnipeg - I found it hard not to like this movie

There's only one thing that is special about this flick: it's Winnipeg. Winnipeg in winter. But the location is used well in this mobster parody, and sometimes the movie looks like a prequel of Fargo. The cast appears to be all Canadian and some performances are quite good. Don Siegel regular John Vernon sleepwalks through his part, but that's perfect. And I like his badly motivated little laughs. Vernon's daughter is in it too, she is cute and sometimes wears a long, extra heavy fur coat which makes her even cuter. And now I know that you should not lick the barrel of your gun when you are going to whack someone in Winnipeg in winter.

Seriously, I did not mind at all wasting my time for Mob Story.
