Good Delaney fare
Taram7 June 2001
This was the first work I ever watched with Dana Delaney, although I remember hearing her name through the years. The story was pretty good, but Ms. Delaney made this a strong movie via her performance and I would recommend it to everyone. It caused me to become a Dana Delaney fan.

Promise kept.

This movie was based on Kurt Vonnegut and his first wife, Jane. It was inspired by the memoir of Jane - "Angels Without Wings: A Courageous Family's Triumph Over Tragedy". Four orphaned nephews befall a working couple who can barely take care of their own three children.

Dana Delany and William Russ are both very good here. The kids are OK. Some of the scenes are also nicely photographed and the beach is very nice. Unfortunately, the movie drags towards the end.

confronting the challenge of living with people
unconditionalcaring17 November 2005
Warning: Spoilers
It is a tremendous challenge to find a way for all these people to live together and get their needs met. In the movie, Jean succeeds in this challenge by confronting her husband when she sees him bullying people, deciding to quit her job in theater, asking the children how they are doing, sharing their emotions about the challenges and trying to understand them and give them the care that they need with ample space for them to run about and have fun putting on a play of their own, celebrating each other with festive parties. She also fends off uncaring actions from people outside the group. She succeeds to warm the hearts of the people in the group and the person who has offered to care for the baby yet has limited effect on those outside of the group.
