Sex & Nudity

  • When Garrison and his associate go to prison to see Willie O'Keefe, one of the prisoners is wearing pants with the back cut out, exposing his bare buttocks. This only last for two seconds and is easy to miss.
  • One implied sex scene between Garrison and his wife. They start kissing sensually and briefly taking out their clothes. Very brief and short scene.
  • A brief scene that takes place in a strip club. The strippers are seen wearing little more than pasties in the background.
  • A woman tells her husband that he has one hour to himself and then he is all her's, and he replies saying "I'll show you how that night was invented." Implying that they are planning to have sex.
  • Three men are homosexual and describe various incidents. No nudity.
  • Willie O'Keefe tells Garrison he does not know anything cause he's never been f**ked in his behind. Meaning he does not know why they dislike Kennedy, This is mostly played for laughs.

Violence & Gore

  • A sudden flashback of a character being murdered inside of his car with a machete. Although it is shown in black and white, some blood is seen on the machete. Disturbing.
  • The Zapruder film is shown a few times displaying a graphic and gory head wound of Kennedy. There is a brief depiction of murder.
  • Kennedy's autopsy is shown. In black and white a doctor starts to stick his finger into a bullet hole on Kennedy's back. Kennedy's graphic head wound that is being described in a voice over is only shown for a split second, but the entire autopsy is disturbing.
  • A man is found dead on his couch. This is not graphic at all but the apartment in which he is found is macabre and the seen may, because of this, be frightening.
  • A woman is thrown out of a car her face is bloody and bruised. This is at the beginning of the film and is not very graphic. We see the woman's face again later, though. This time there is much more blood, the face is bruised, and the woman is very pale.

Profanity

  • Aside from frequent use of the "F" Bomb, several other strong words include variations of "shit" ("bullshit" "shithole", etc.), "g*dd*mn" "asshole" "hell" and other profanities.
  • Use of the 'n-word'
  • Multiple uses of c*cksucker
  • Most of the F-bombs come from three or four different scenes, but are infrequent elsewhere. Other profanities are scattered throughout almost every scene.
  • 8 uses of damn.
  • 24 uses of goddamn.
  • 1 use of co*ksucker.
  • 13 uses of hell.
  • Over the 3 hour and 25 minute movie there is only 104 cuss words in it so it's not that bad.
  • 100 uses of the "f" word, used as a sexual profanity a few times, and many other profanities are scattered throughout, including several religious profanities.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Many characters smoke throughout.
  • Mention of drug smuggling operations.
  • There's brief scenes when we see Jim Garrison smoking and drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The Zapruder Film of JFK's Assassination is shown many times, it is quite graphic and disturbing, as we see JFK's headshot in which blood and brain matter is shown. Made all the more disturbing by the fact that it is real.
  • throughout the film a lot of things happens that are related to the conspiracy that can make you feel paranoic about the characters and their partnership with each other, this plus the soundtrack and the direction style can make feel the audience persecuted and overwhelmed for the amount of information that is shown in the film
  • The opening scene has intense music as it details the 10 minutes leading up to Kennedy getting shot. When the shots occur the screen quickly drops black and three VERY loud shots occur.
  • The film maintains a dark atmosphere throughout. It becomes progressively more intense from start to finish.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

  • David Ferrie, Clay Shaw and Willie O'Keefe are briefly shown in flashbacks after/during a suggestive act (S & M) whilst under the influence of drugs. Earlier, Clay mentions he has an erection.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Brief flashbacks of David Ferrie and Clay Shaw snorting an unknown substance at a party.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The movie gets scarier as we unwrap more details about the JFK assination. Definetly not more kids, and scarrier than most horror films.
