Last week, Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger secured an eight figure deal to make his next genre project – something called Weapons – for New Line Cinema. Weapons will be produced by BoulderLight Pictures, the same company that was behind Barbarian… and soon after news of the Cregger deal came to the surface, it has also been announced that BoulderLight Pictures has signed on a first look deal with New Line Cinema. As part of this deal, BoulderLight will develop high-concept, filmmaker-driven genre stories for New Line.
The Hollywood Reporter offers some background on BoulderLight. The company was founded by J.D. Lifshitz, 30, and Raphael Margules, 31. The two men, who are observant Orthodox Jews who met at Hebrew school (they don’t work on The Sabbath), bonded over their love of horror (Lifshitz was an avid reader of Fangoria and saw Scream 3 in theaters at the age of 7). "Amazing how one lion can stop an entire city." 4 Digital Media has released a new Us trailer for a horror B-movie titled Uncaged, which is the official Us title for a movie also known as Prey (or Prooi in Dutch). This already opened in The Netherlands in 2016, but has never had a Us release - until now. It's heading to VOD in March, if anyone wants to catch it. The movie is about a zoo veterinarian who gets caught up in a grisly adventure as she finds herself leading the city-wide hunt for a monstrous lion terrorizing the Dutch capital of Amsterdam. No one believes her when she figures out it's a lion, but the attacks keep happening. Uncaged stars Sophie van Winden, along with Julian Looman, Mark Frost, Wesley Mutsaars, and Victor Löw. This doesn't seem that good, but it does remind me of all the killer animal films from the 80s.

Although he grew up pretending to be John Wayne in his backyard, Jeffrey Dean Morgan never considered becoming an actor. A star basketball player in high school, he went to college to play but was sidelined by a knee injury. He moved to downtown Seattle in the midst of the grunge movement, making a living by selling his paintings in bars and coffee shops. In the early '90s, an actor friend who was moving to Los Angeles asked Morgan if he would drive a U-Haul truck from Seattle as a favor. What was meant to be a weekend trip became a permanent move that would change Morgan's life.On his second day in L.A., he met a casting director who told him he should audition while in town. He auditioned for a Roger Corman film, "Uncaged," and booked a part. "I didn't even know what a mark was,...
