Sex & Nudity

  • A woman lies on top of a man and thrusts on his crotch at an outdoor party, implying sex. No nudity, since they are fully clothed.
  • There are several scenes of female nudity.
  • Carlito knocks on Gail's door and after they talk, she takes off her dress, and shows her bare breasts in the mirror for Carlito to see. He enters the room and kisses her neck for about a minute, but Gail's breasts are not shown while Carlito kisses.
  • There's a long scene in a strip club that shows graphic female topless nudity and thong underwear with erotic dancing.
  • At an outdoor party several women are topless as shown from a distance.
  • A man has sex with a woman in a bathroom stall. Brief and from a distance.

Violence & Gore

  • We see a man being shot during the credits. Little blood shown.
  • A man shoots another man in the head killing him. Some blood shown.
  • A man is shot in the chest. Little blood shown.
  • A man splits another man's head open with a harpoon (bloody but not long lasting). A guy kills another guy by slitting his throat. (Not shown, just the aftermath).
  • There's a bar shootout where one man gets his arm smashed inside a cooler for a few seconds before his throat is slit, killing him quickly. Another man starts shooting the other people dead and also smacks them with a billiard stick and shoots the Q-ball to one guy's head prior to the shoot out. The guy takes a bullet to the shoulder but appears to be fine. Somewhat bloody and shocking but not gory.
  • A man is beaten moderately in an alley.

Profanity

  • 'F*ck' is said at least 99 times.
  • 'Motherf*cker' is said 13 times.
  • '*ss' is said 11 times.
  • 'Sh*t' is said 24 times.
  • 'Bullsh*t' is said once.
  • 'H*ll' is said five times.
  • 'B*stard' is said twice.
  • 'D*mn' is said twice.
  • 'Godd*mn' is said seven times.
  • 'C*cksucker' is said twice.
  • 'B*tch' is said twice.
  • 'Son of a b*tch' is said twice.
  • 'Woo' is said as a racial insult.
  • As this is a crime drama dealing with prison and organized crime, profanity is pervasive throughout the film.
  • "Fuck" is used at least 89 times, "cocksucker" at least twice, and some other profanities.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the main locations is a bar, where many people are drinking and smoking.
  • Many scenes show people drinking.
  • References to dealing heroin and to dealing and smoking marijuana.
  • Cigarette smoking by several characters throughout the film, including the main character.
  • Klienfeld is a heavy coke user. He is seen sniffling cocaine several times. In one scene he does a line of cocaine and takes a drink at his office. Later he has a party where people have several mini plates of heaping cocaine. One guy is so coked that he knocks the table and plate over. Other people are assumed to be coked out of their minds as a lady pushes a guy in a swimming pool and two people are having sex outside.
  • Klienfeld is later said to be so coked that his nostril flaps are all red and swollen.
  • A man in a weelchair also snorts cocaine.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The shootouts are intense.
  • The film opens on the dramatic shooting of a man.
  • The main character fears for his life at the last 35-40 minutes but the movie isn't that intense.
  • The many instances of violence and illegal activity are intense.
  • The bar sequence with Guajiro is quite intense, due to the sudden violence and his fate.
  • A prisoner makes numerous threats to Klienfeld.
  • Carlito's treatment of Lalin can be upsetting.

Violence & Gore

  • Kleinfield is shot in the head at a hospital, some blood sprays on the wall.
  • Carlito is killed by Benny Blanco in the ending. Not bloody but very upsetting. Also, Benny kills Pachanga with some blood after this.
  • Kleinfeld's bodyguard is knocked out with a bat. Klienfeld is stabbed the chest with a knife several times.
  • There's a shootout in a train station. Six men are shot sometimes with bloody results.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The last quarter of the movie is very intense and emotional as Carlito deals with a failing longtime friendship, relationship, and threats to his own life despite trying to get out of the life of crime.
  • The ending is emotional.
