Good news! Charlie Kaufman-esque rich, archly funny meta-comedy He Loves Me has begun filming in Los Angeles. Bona Fide Productions and Fox Searchlight Pictures officially announced a slew of A-listed thesps to star in the new dramatic comedy opposite leads Paul Dano and Zoey Kazan – Antonio Banderas, Steve Coogan, Elliot Gould, Chris Messina, Deborah Ann Woll and previously attached Annette Bening. In addition, The Daily Show veteran Aasif Mandvi is in talks to join the cast as well.
Helmed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine), the film follows a writer (Paul Dano) who, in an attempt to overcome writer’s block, scribes a female character he thinks will love him. As the story goes, Dano actually births the character into existence. His real life girlfriend, Zoe Kazan, will embody the character brought to life. Kazan also penned the script.
Let’s start with the end – Mandvi will play Calvin’s agent,...

Stone Temple Pilots may go down in history as the most underrated band of all time. When they first dropped their debut single "Plush" in 1993, they were buried as Pearl Jam imitators (though that didn't stop them from doing massive sales and becoming MTV staples). They have spent the remainder of their collective career trying to dig their way out from under that label, despite the fact that they put out some of the most interesting, inventive and unforgettable music of the post-grunge era.
Case in point: On this day in 1996, the band dropped their third album Tiny Music ... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop, a confusingly named but roundly excellent collection of rock tunes. Coming off the heavy Purple, the band expanded their musical palette with Tiny Music, wandering into areas normally inhabited by shoegaze and psychedelia. Despite the experimentation (especially with the tuning and voicing of Dean DeLeo...

Today's Twitter-Wood came under duress, as TwitPic.com was down for a while, and I wasn't sure where the Twitter Pic of the Day was going to come from. Luckily, everything worked out and I didn't have to make a blind decision. That means I've fully vetted today's shot of John Travolta at the opening for "From Paris With Love," Jason Reitman's view of Oprah's birthday celebration and Jackie Earle Haley's photo opp at Golden Ear Park.
The feed also brought a status update from Kevin Smith on his film "Hit Somebody," which is based on one of my all-time favorite Warren Zevon songs, a few more thoughts on J.D. Salinger's passing and a pre-date dilemma from Diablo Cody. Check it all out and find out who was backstage at the Grammy Awards yesterday in Twitter-Wood for January 29, 2010.

Diddy's 39th birthday party at Mansion in New York last night was packed with his famous friends, and the celebration was doubly sweet after Barack Obama's Tuesday night win. The bday boy himself waved a patriotic American flag before mugging for the cameras with his buddy Jay-z. While Beyonce found time to express her post-election patriotism, she'll be performing at the Europe MTV Awards tonight so the party was a no go. Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor stopped by after the Michael J. Fox benefit looking every bit the perfect team. Rebecca Gayheart hammed it up with Jack McBrayer, which reminds me that Oprah is on 30 Rock tonight! It should be almost as much fun as Diddy's fancy soiree. To see more from the party including Jay, Ben, Christine, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, and others, just read more Images include: Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Jay-z, Mary J Blige, Rebecca Gayheart,...
