So Cheesy!!!! Just add macaroni and you have a complete meal.

Warning: Spoilers
Just like some of the other viewers say, it's so bad at times it's funny. It has the typical thriller stuff that makes you think these people are so stupid they actually deserve to die. The dropped keys, the woman falling down, but before she gets a chance to fall she escapes her attacker and gets out of the garage only to come to a complete stop outside for what seems like an eternity and just looks back and forth like it's the first time she has actually seen her own yard. No one in their right mind being chased by a crazy person would stop running like she does. I was so mad I was hoping she would get killed. She stood there so long I thought she was waiting for a taxi. Let's not forget the obligatory one hit to the bad guy/girl and then stop and run, if it were me I wouldn't stop until that person threatening my life was so chopped up you could make burger patties out of them! Be sure to pay special attention to the end ** Definite Spoiler ** When the mom jumps off the porch you can actually see the grass covered airbag cushion her fall. Either that or they have the softest damn grass in the world. It is however worth a watch so if you are ever in this situation you will know exactly what not to do!!!

Being interested in mother/daughter relationships, I feel this movie was very poignant with superb acting on the part of the players, especially the two mothers and the daughter.
bthcrlsol5 April 2003
Being the relationship between mothers and daughters is said to be sensitive and complex, I felt the players of the adoptee daughter and two mothers, was very poignant, convincing, and touching. Though Edie could be adequately labelled "Psycho Mother," I, in a way, felt sorry for her being she was jealous of Susan's loving relationship to her adoptive mother, Verna, who was, totally unsuspecting of Edie's motives. I wanted to be part of that family, because their portrayal of a close-knit family is what it should be, but unfortunately, in real-life, such a family is far from picture-perfect. Susan, wanting to have a some kind of warm relationship with Edie, does a good job of being blind to Edie, when the other players, such as Susan's husband, stepson, and babysitter, do know definitely something is NOT right. Their performances were so heart-wrenching that I wanted to jump into the set to tell them I know how they felt when they tried to warn Susan to be cautious, because she was in danger, but Susan turned a deaf ear to their doubts of her biological mother's facade, whom she felt a sense of loyalty to, though all around her mysterious occurrences took place which she did not seem to question. I felt like shaking Susan trying to knock some sense into her and get her to realize Edie's true intentions and felt bad when Verna never knew what was really happening. "Will you please listen! Wake up! Open your eyes!" I felt like screaming at her to not avail. Of course, I was glad of what eventually happened which should and did take place. Though I do NOT want to give the ending away completely, it was sort of in a way, comical. I had to laugh. And I did!

Better with out the soundtrack...!
proustbird-125 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
After buying this for £1 at a boot-sale, I think I really picked up a bargain! My copy has the title, "The Stepmother" which explains why I couldn't find it straight away on here without typing in Diane Ladd. Diane Ladd was fantastic as a psycho. She reminded me of a much older Yancy Butler from 'The Ex'.

The film however, is a little too fast. It fells like the director wanted to go home after the first day of shooting and tried to get everything out of the way as quickly as possible! It's just your average psycho girl killer flick minus Alicia Silverstone, Glenn Close, Yancy Butler, Rebecca Demoray, or ever Rose McGowan from Dearly Devoted! The only real problem with this film is the soundtrack! Maybe if someone like Greame Revell or Trevor Jones had done the score for this, may it have been much more tense and frightening instead of thinking that this is a love story that will have a happy ending with roses and vanilla candles in the air! The cast was wonderful apart from the odd little flaw from each of them here and there! For example *SPOILERS* When Dianne Ladd is shaving her legs with her daughters husbands razor and she acts like she has just watched a Traci Lords video seconds before. The son in the family is brilliant, "You Bitch!" Overall this film is quite fantastic, even for a TV Movie. Despite the poor attempt of a cheesy score that actually over-sounds the dialogue most of the time. Watch with 'THE CRUSH' soundtrack playing in the background and you'll love it!

Gripping thriller
matt_lloyd22 January 2005
This film is so bad that it is good. The cheesy lines and, in many places, hilarious acting make for an unintended laugh a minute. The film is basically a rip of from many others but what didn't go into the story line went into the comedy. The film is the story of how a crazy woman had her child taken into care and many years later wanted to be part of her family again. She goes to many unconvincing lengths to ensure that she and her daughter will be together. This film is a must see for everybody(legally old enough to view it)and I imagine it can be found in a bargain bin near you so. For a little investment expect a lot of return.

"I'm Just Trying To Add A Wee Bit Of Flavor!"...
azathothpwiggins5 October 2021
Susan's (Wendel Meldrum) life seems perfect. Her husband and sons are wonderful. All is lovely, peaceful, and idyllic.

-Poof!-

Unbeknownst to Susan, her birth mother, Edie (Diane Ladd) has used a private investigator to track her down. Susan is aghast, since her adoptive parents told her that Edie was dead. After meeting and hanging out, Susan invites her back to her home for a visit.

Unfortunately, Edie has some profound mental issues making her manipulative, violent, and extremely dangerous. Goodbye normalcy! Hello insanity!

HUSH LITTLE BABY is a gripping tale of what happens when we allow a psychopath to get too close. Ms. Ladd is quite convincing in her dark role, making us despise her right away. Watching as she worms her way into the unsuspecting family is a master's class in wickedness!

A very good made-for-TV thriller...

Great movie with good actors
CarfelMA26 April 2003
I really love this one. The story is about the reunion of an adopted daughter (Susan) and her biological mother (Edie). All seems fine and much too perfect when they get closer but Edie gets jealous of everyone who is near Susan. There is the babysitter and house-girl, Susan's son, her husband and the parents who adopted her. Nobody knows at this time that Edie spent several years in a mental hospital and prison for murder. So you can imagine what will happen... Well, I didn't like the ending very much, it was too cheesy and looked a bit cheap done, the only bad thing in "Hush little baby".

Diane Ladd gives a GREAT performance as Edie Landers. She is so believable and also when she tries to come on to Susan's husband Martin (Geraint Wyn Davies). Diane Ladd can be so sexy :-) And she is so perfect playing this mental disturbed character.

Wendel Meldrum needed a while to give a good performance. She acts a bit shy and helpless at the beginning but then turns out very good. The storyline between mother and daughter is played very believable.

Not to forget Illya Woloshyn who played the son Dylan. This guy is really cute for his age and will turn out very good looking. This movies was shot 10 years ago and I wonder how he looks today. His acting was very good and he should do more movies or even TV series. His talent should be pushed !

Ingrid Veninger is acting a bit bored and seems not to be that comfortable with her part.

Enjoy "Hush little baby" - you will like it. I'll give it a 10 out of 10 which I don't give very often :-)

Good Fun

Despite being a TV-Movie this is quite good. Diane Ladd is great as jealous mother Eidie, she is so funny at times. The rest of the cast put in good performances all round. The daughter-mother relationship between Susan and Eidie is very realistic, thats what makes this film so enjoyable to watch. Catch it if you can!
