[on the phone]
Philip: Just remember that in every pothole there is hope. Well, you see, pothole is spelled P-O-T-H-O-L-E. So if you take the P, and add it to the H, the O, and the E, and rearrange the letters... or contrariwise, you remove the O, T, and the L, you get "hope". So, just remember, in every pothole there is hope!
- Crazy creditsThe circular icons from Felix's mural appear throughout the end credits.

So Glad I Ignored the Haters
I had not heard of this film before deciding to watch it, so I was not aware of its poor reputation. And lucky for me, because I found that the critics, and many of the idiot 'reviewers' here (cough cough), are dead wrong. Surprise, surprise.
Plot In a Nutshell: Staff at a suicide-prevention center (Steve Martin et al) and their friends become immersed in increasingly comical situations on Christmas Eve.
Why I rated it an '8': because this is one funny film. It starts off OK, then like a slow burn, it warms up more and more and by the end, I was sold. It's a pure comedy, little sentimentality, so don't expect another "When Harry Met Sally..." or "Sleepless in Seattle" (Nora Ehpron's more popular earlier works). But the humor from those films is here, and it's ratcheted up a few notches. Watching the craziness unfold was a delight.
This film did poorly with the critics for reasons I don't understand. Roger Ebert gave it only 1.5 out of 4 stars, complaining "maybe there's too much talent." In truth there are really only six main characters, not hard to follow, so I don't know what he was talking about. The idiot 'reviewers' on this website (and I use that term loosely) provide worthless commentary I found to be devoid of any value.
For example, someone wrote: "this remake is a disgrace." Apparently Mixed Nuts is a remake of a French film. I never saw that film and I never will. So I don't care that it's a remake, that means nothing to me. And that comment tells me nothing about this film. Idiot.
Someone else wrote "The largest waste of talent ever put to film." Oh yeah? Can you prove that? Or is this just a ridiculous exaggeration which you misguidedly think makes you sound smart? Well, it doesn't. You just sound like an uneducated jackass given to hyperbole.
Someone else wrote "Please don't watch." Here's a question...why do you care what I watch? I couldn't care less what you watch...but it's probably repeats of "The Masked Singer." Moron.
And this: "I did not laugh a SINGLE time!" Really? Really? Not once, huh? Then guess what? You must have the sense of humor of a dead fish.
There are numerous funny bits in this film. Steven Wright's cameo. The obscene phone caller with leukemia. Garry Shandling's body wrapped in a Christmas tree. The Steve Martin and Liev Schreiber dancing scene. The fruitcake from hell. The film is packed with hilarious moments if you just go with it. Way way better than these simpletons writing reviews would have you believe.
8/10. Good Christmas comedy that gets better as it plays out. So glad I ignored the haters. Will definitely watch again.
