Like Snake Plissken, the protagonist of Escape from New York (1981) and its sequel Escape from L.A. (1996), Robbins is a convicted former Marine whom is dumped on Absolom, a prison island, which has no guards, no bars and is inhabited by camps of convicts, from which Robbins escapes.
